The Senior Director, GSI Oncology, Early Pipeline role requires a strategic, integrative thinker to lead the analytics, valuation, and evaluation of strategic fit analytics for early development candidates, business development opportunities and disease area strategy teams (DAS). This role serves as a thought-partner to commercial leads in identifying opportunities for analytics, growth opportunities and with a focus on the needs of the Early Commercialization VP and early development leader(s). A member of the GSI Oncology leadership team, the role will also work with colleagues in the broader GSI community to further develop our core capabilities, organizational impact and effectiveness in ways of working with other functions, RUs and local operating companies. Job Purpose: Influence key business decisions based on data, research, analytics, and actionable insights to meet the genuine unmet needs of patients, health care practitioners and health ecosystem. Partner with commercial leadership to effectively evaluate drivers of value, unmet need and develop a data-based perspective on the demand potential of assets within specific scenarios. Recommend, influence, plan and oversee the GSI teams execution of research and analytics for pipeline assets and M&A, L&A targets based on an in-depth understanding of the products/segments, competitive environment, business model, and challenges/opportunities. Key Responsibilities: Operate as a strategic business partner to the Early Development Commercialization VP and Oncology BD search and evaluation leader. Develop and deliver subject matter expertise therapeutic area issues, trends, current and evolving competitive landscape, and potential market disruptors. Support and provide oversight to your early development insight directors working on the individual cross-functional teams to ensure best practices, GSI standards. Ensure the delivery of well-integrated, actionable insights and ensure their strategic application to support global commercial strategy, governance meetings and investment decisions for the new medicines in portfolio. Partner with cross functional colleagues to ensure pull through of market and customer insights into sound forecasts that contribute to stage gating and investment planning decisions; understand and apply forecasting content and implications to their application in the execution of brand plans; guide your team of insight directors to do likewise. Ensure that the early pipeline, DAS team for GSI have excellence annual learning plans, embracing best practices and innovative approaches to address the highest value business questions. Ensure 100% adherence to market research and corporate compliance guidelines. Contribute to a positive culture of learning and continuous improvement by developing/refining processes to achieve better business outcomes. Why You? Basic qualifications: BS/BA required 10+ years of professional experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech or medical devices Minimum of 6 years in insight, business/commercial strategy, marketing, and or marketing/sales analytics A minimum of 3 years’ experience in people management Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Oncology Preferred qualifications: MBA, MS, or MA in business, marketing science, or science 8+ years commercial analysis, scenario-based planning, research and analytics distillation, synthesis and application to business issues, portfolio strategy Strong business acumen required Demonstrated Leadership (first line leader experience or successful matrix leadership or enterprise leadership) required Demonstrated ability to influence senior commercial leadership and confidently defend informed recommendations Demonstrated ability to apply data and analyses to drive high impact business decisions Significant experience conducting qualitative and quantitative market research Ability to leverage and synthesize a broad range of information sources to develop insight and generate clear, actionable recommendations that impact/drive decision-making at a business unit level Deep understanding of the global pharmaceutical industry Strong verbal and written communication/ presentation skills Ability to work effectively across a matrix environment and influence without formal authority Demonstrated ability to influence senior commercial leadership Agility, flexibility, and comfort with ambiguity Experience managing direct reports and leading without authority Ability to lead through change and inspire agility/flexibility amongst team Please visit GSK US Benefits Summary to learn more about the comprehensive benefits program GSK offers US employees.
