Description
Overview Sourcing Engineer: Interfaces with development and supplier engineering to provide materials and components for company product manufacturing. Communicates product specifications to suppliers and assesses supplier’s ability to meet engineering and quality requirements. Evaluates suppliers’ internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation. Qualifies suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness. Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur. Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met. Responsibilities Works with Engineering and management to assess business needs and contribute to the development of procurement and as per company strategies. Populates and maintains database and apply cost analytical tools, techniques and systems to analyze and interpret a wide range of supplier and organizational information and options to support procurement planning and decision making. Apply risks management and compliance checks when researching and analyzing supply markets and contract performance to identify potential risk and trigger risk mitigation and management responses. Implements plans to ensure orders meet specified quality and delivery times and to minimize the total cost of purchases. Documents performance to action plans and timelines for assigned sourcing projects. Handles requests for information, quotations, proposals, and bidding processes. Evaluates current and potential suppliers in coordination with Supplier Quality Teams. Negotiates with suppliers to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives. Drives the parts and process qualification in coordination with Supplier Quality Teams. Establishes and maintains rapport with all levels of supplier personnel and internal customers. Identifies opportunities and implements actions to achieve efficiencies. Common Company Responsibilities: Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in the fields of engineering, or manufacturing. Working experiences above 5 years in related fields. Good negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills are required to lean on networks to get the best price. Global sourcing experience. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment. Experience in a manufacturing setting with involvement with lean practices; (Kaizen, Values Stream Mapping, 5S. Experience in a pull system (kanban) approach to material/component flow. In depth knowledge of supplier qualification processes and supplier performance metrics. Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions. Includes a strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software. Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines.
