Overview OCTA's Summer College Intern Program is a ten-week paid student/intern program. You will gain real world work experience on meaningful projects under the guidance of transportation professional. You will have the opportunity to use problem solving, communication and decision-making skills as you gain valuable work experience. As a Summer College Intern, you will be exposed to OCTA's career opportunities in the transportation industry. You will gain deeper awareness of transportation's many facets through your OCTA orientation, projects and teams, and internal networking. Under direct supervision, students will perform a variety of professional, entry-level duties to obtain practical experience related to their major field of study and interest, and the sponsoring department's current business operations within OCTA and the Transportation Industry. Employment will be full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, for the duration of the ten-week program. An internship with the Diversity Outreach team will provide you with the strategies and tools you'llneed to deliver quality communications and meaningful outreach with Orange County's dynamicdiverse communities. Whether it's attending events to inform business and community leadersabout OCTA or creating multicultural graphics to share on social media or talking with buscustomers to get their ideas and suggestions on how to improve transportation, you'll leave thisinternship knowing that you've made an impact by helping the community move forward. The pay range is from $18.00 - $21.00 per hour depending on your education level. This position is not eligible for employee benefits. This position will remain open until it is filled. Under direct supervision, perform a variety of professional entry-level duties related to major field of study and the sponsoring department's current business operations. Understand multicultural public relations and/or diversity communications programand project development. Informal and formal research. Communications planning. Program execution of the plan measured against objectives and goals. Present and interface with diverse audiences along with compiling data and visuals. Effectively organize and handle multiple projects simultanelously under tight deadlines. Interest in: Learning the principles and practices of the Public Outreach field. Learning the methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used in the Public and Diversity Outreach field. Ability to: Perform entry-level professional work. Acquire increasingly complex and technical knowledge and skills. Assume progressively responsible duties. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of effective public relations. Display a can-do attitude, hard work and team spirit. Qualifications Requirements to qualify for the Summer College Intern Program are as follows: College students must be enrolled full-time in a two or four-year college program, at an accredited college or university, and follow a course of study leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree. Students that graduate with their bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in the fall of 2023 or the spring of 2024, are eligible. College students enrolled full-time and pursuing a master’s degree from an accredited college. Desirable degree program for this assignment is Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related discipline. Special Qualifications: College students pursuing a course of study leading to an undergraduate degree must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or better. College students pursuing a course of study leading to a graduate degree must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Must submit most recent college transcript.
