Summary: The Sr. Manager MPO Strategy will partner with the leadership of Merchandise Planning & Inventory (MPI), Merch Ops and BI teams to implement strategic initiatives throughout the MPO organization. The Manager of MPO Strategy will spearhead, mentor, and cultivate the MPO Strategy team to attain financial objectives and optimize workload allocation across all categories, thereby maximizing the team's value. They will guide the MPO Strategy team in talent development, while overseeing and managing team members and their workload priorities. This person will be responsible for developing and providing operational guidance for MP&I processes to help enable hitting KPIs (e.g. selling margin forecasts, inventory turn, annual planning, health, etc.), improve category performance and ultimately a better guest experience. They will work closely with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide customized visualization solutions to meet their needs. CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary liaison to leadership business partners (internal and/or external) through business requirements and implementation to ensure process and capability matches envisioned business result. Develop a strategy and framework to enable the MPO Strategy team to operate as a center of excellence, identifying areas to generate insights and actions that positively influence the quality of work within the MPO team. Manage and provide support for inventory enterprise capabilities assigned to team members (e.g., merchandise financial planning, inventory optimization, inventory forecasting policy, PLM, etc.). Use strategic and operational insight to assess category merchandise financial planning or inventory effectiveness and develops and implements plans to improve inventory strategy. Contributes to implementation of new systems through activities such as participating in system capability demos, design sessions or validate testing results. Recommend advanced system capabilities to increase customer service level and reduce inventory levels. Translate complex ideas into clear, compelling messages to influence and communicate effectively to all levels and departments across the organization Conduct standardized or ad hoc analysis requested by MP&I team, taking the lead on how best to structure data set, visualize findings and recommend solution to business cases. Create effective PowerPoint presentations that include influential data points and easy to interpret data visualizations (graphs/charts) to effectively convey strategic opportunities Drive disruption through surfacing new ideas, demonstrate strategic thinking, and remaining solution focused in driving Ulta’s growth and competitive edge. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with an ideal focus on Business Analytics or Supply Chain Management; MBA a plus Minimum of 8+ years direct work experience in Retail, Merchandising, or Merchandise Planning\Finance with analytical roles and increasing responsibility Demonstrated leadership experience managing direct reports and/or leading without authority Comfort performing complex analyses (leveraging multiple data sources) to generate data-driven insight and recommendations Self-starter able to successfully execute against departmental goals Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional manner Able to manage multiple projects/multiple presentation deadlines at one time Strong strategic, financial, analytical, and data visualization skills Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with stakeholders Ability to think in terms of the future state, challenging the status quo Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Ability to present findings through PowerPoint or appropriate communication vehicle Excellent listening, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Enthusiastic, persistent, action-oriented, and a strong sense of accountability SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Experience with Merchandise Financial Planning and Forecast & Replenishment Systems (SAP, Blue Yonder, Oracle, Anaplan, o9, Manhattan, etc.) Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile Methodologies ABOUT At Ulta Beauty (NASDAQ: ULTA), the possibilities are beautiful.
