Responsibilities Sr. Director, Maintenance Operations is responsible for Line and Heavy Maintenance operations, Maintenance Control and Tech Ops Training. This positions plays an integral role in Spirit's ability to accomplish its mission of delivering the best value in the sky through effective management of safe, and reliable aircraft maintenance operations. Ensures Line Maintenance and Heavy Maintenance operations are conducted in accordance with conditions and restrictions of the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and will keep the airline in compliance with applicable regulations and standards. Has overall responsibility and authority of Line Maintenance, Maintenance Control, TO Training and Heavy Maintenance activity. Active participation in, and administration of Spirit’s Safety Management System (SMS), Security Policy, and manages security risks and security threats to aircraft operations. Active participation and a voting member of the Spirit Airlines Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS). Ability to work with Human Resources to maintain established attendance, performance, and behavioral conduct standards. Will have indirect interaction with the FAA CMO, relying upon DOM 119 to be primary point of contact for regulatory issues. Develops and maintains Maintenance Control, Line Maintenance, Tech Ops Training and Heavy Maintenance operating and capital expenditure budgets and develops and oversees maintenance staffing for areas of responsibility; also reviews, approves, and provisions general resource requirements. Takes on a significant role in mentoring and developing team members to support engagement, succession planning, growth and goal achievement. In this role will develop cascading Key Performance Index goals (KPIs) for direct reports. Qualifications Ability to prioritize tasks and make confident and expeditious decisions relating to airworthiness of aircraft to ensure a safe operation. Ability to quickly adapt to dynamic needs of the Company. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate complex issues in a structured and concise manner, both internally and externally. Ability to communicate and understand highly technical, regulatory rules and procedures. Ability to partner and work effectively with Managers and Directors to develop and implement departmental as well as interdepartmental Company plans and strategies. Maintain composure in high stress environment and demonstrate strong leadership abilities. Leads and mentors by example. Bachelor’s degree preferred but will consider proven experience commensurate with duties and responsibilities mentioned above. 10+ years' experience. Regular monthly visits to Dania Beach Support Center and quarterly visits to Line Maintenance stations and HMV support centers. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Job involves sitting most of the time but may also involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
