The RTI instructor will coordinate Response to Intervention programs across the school. They will support and monitor the school's implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI) model for increasing student achievement. Through this role, the RTI Teacher will support HCS RTI goals at their school. These goals include: Building capacity throughout Hamilton County Schools to understand the importance of RTI beyond compliance to become a valued practice to grow and move students. Supporting all educational leaders, teachers, interventionists, and stakeholders in understanding the necessity of RTI for students who have not met their academic goals. Daisy Elementary Daisy Elementary is a PreK-5 school located in Soddy Daisy, TN. We are a small school that serves a tight knit community. We strive to develop relationships with all students and work to meet their identified academic and social emotional needs. At Daisy, we have a house system that helps to create a strong, positive, school-wide team mentality. Our students and teachers work together daily as good citizens and give our best effort in all that we do. We want to provide Daisy students with the tools and experiences that will help them to be successful in their future endeavors. Our school-wide focus is on whole child “growth”. We are seeking teachers who will invest in all students and help them to grow and meet their potential. Our teachers and support staff work to build relationships with students, families, and teachers; engage students in well-planned, standards-based instruction; and collaborate with teammates to ensure that every student has access to a quality education. We are looking for teachers who desire to offer students the best education possible. Additionally, we are looking for teachers who can analyze data and create a plan to meet the needs of all learners through the use of state standards and HCS curriculum. Responsibilities Serves as the school’s RTI Facilitator for 50-80% of the school day. Attends monthly RTI Facilitator meetings and District In-Service for RTI. Redelivers content from RTI Facilitator meetings and District In-Service to all relevant school staff. Completes Fidelity Checks for tier 2 and tier 3 instruction. Coaches, supports and mentors tier 2 and tier 3 instructors in effective practices. Serves as a tier 2 and tier 3 content advisor to teachers and administrators. Supports school in implementation of dyslexia instruction and plans. Plans and delivers effective instruction in tier 2 and/or tier 3 for 20-50% of the school day. All instruction is tightly aligned with the HCS RTI Framework. Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals. Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues to enhance student’s reading and/or math needs. Conveys high expectations while using multiple effective strategies, materials, and classroom practices that involve and motivate students while differentiating instruction to meet the students’ reading and/or math needs. Uses student data, colleagues, and self-reflection on instructional practice to continually improve instruction and student outcomes. Models best practices in instruction aligned to Academic Press & Personalization Framework and HCS RTI Framework. Fosters positive relationships through the school. Provides a well-structured and engaging learning environment by utilizing effective classroom procedures and routines while showing caring, respect, and fairness for all students. Collaborate with instructional coaches to strengthen understanding of RTI goals and accelerate learning. Collaborate with colleagues and provide feedback to strengthen RTI instruction. Engages family and community to support students that are below grade-level. Consistently develops strong relationships with students’ families Leads school process for notifying and updating parents on their child’s need for intervention, including sending out state required Home Literacy Letters. Provides opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning. Professional Responsibilities: Actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders in order to improve teaching & learning. Reflects on own instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school. All other duties assigned that support students who are below grade-level. Qualifications Knowledge/Education/Experience: B.S./B.A. in education or human service related field Valid state of Tennessee teaching certification or upcoming graduates in an accredited teacher preparation program. If a valid teaching license is held in another state you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license. Two years' experience in teaching or services to individuals with disabilities Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to students with disabilities. Or, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Skills/Qualifications: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, Board members, parents, and community members. Experienced in math and/or literacy instruction. Committed to inspiring and engaging students Committed to high academic achievement and high expectations for all students Able to be a positive team-player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families Open to being coached and receiving feedback in order to advance learning and growth for students Must maintain a valid driver’s license due to frequent travel to schools. Maintain high personal standards and integrity Compensation: Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. Salary Scale This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation. The Differentiated Compensation Plan applies to designated schools and hard-to-staff positions.
