We are seeking a Toronto-based Director to join our Government Practice to lead our Education, Skills and Productivity cluster. This would be a strategic, high-profile role that unites our Education and Government national practices together to create a coordinated strategy. Target clients for this cluster include: Universities Colleges Polytechnic Institutions Ontario School Boards Ontario Government Ministries responsible for overseeing, coordinating and planning Education, Higher Education, Skills and Training. What you will do As a Director at KPMG, you will bring prior consulting experience with government and broader sector organizations. Furthermore, you understand and are intimately familiar with Canadian governments at the federal, provincial and municipal level as it relates to this cluster. This experience and exposure span the strategy and operations of government, including program/policy development, implementation and evaluation, as well as the downstream entities involved (e.g., school boards, universities) and/or stakeholders impacted (e.g., teachers). This role is about sales, delivery, and practice development. Business development: you will support the identification, marketing and support of winning the trust of clients resulting in sold work; Team and project management: you will lead a team of high performers, maintain strong client relations and shape the deliverable of outstanding work products; Practice development: you will create followership and can support recruiting, marketing and practice administration as required. You will play a central role in delivering a structured process to shape an ambitious and practical path for clients to realize value. You will also be part of a national and global KPMG that has developed some of the best tools, methods, and frameworks anywhere. What you bring to the role Education Sector / Management Consulting Experience: A seasoned professional, with 12-15+ years of comparable experience in consulting Hands on Education and Government sector experience, with strong relationships with Director and/or Executive-level contacts, and with a solid understanding of key trends in the Education sector locally and nationally. Should be able to operate effectively, be a self-starter / adaptive and mature the practice amid ambiguity, changing market conditions and rapid change. Education Specific Experience: Experience with designing and delivering student experiences that authentically engage with each learner's abilities, aspirations, and circumstances while cognizant of the unique and changing world in which students and higher education institutions will operate. Experience with Strategy, Planning, Analytics and Performance, including operational and strategic plan reporting, management information services, modelling, institutional research and analysis. Experience in creating business cases / proposals for structural change, technology improvements and business process re-engineering, including stakeholder engagement, customer journeys, identifying new opportunities for improvement, new ways of undertaking existing functions, such as admissions and the development of costing and implementation timelines and schedules. Technical Skills / Experience Comfortable working at both the conceptual and the hands-on level with big picture thinking and growth-oriented leadership skills. Demonstrated experience working with data, inferring insights from data and briefing senior leaders on insights and recommendations Experience with financial analysis, data modelling, securing expense efficiencies and/or process mapping / re-engineering. Demonstrated interest in working with and building relationships within the government and education sectors Commitment to support proposals and/or lead efforts to secure new business / market opportunities Excellent skills and experience in project execution, including leading day-to-day delivery, team management, client relationship management, and managing project schedule, risks, and timelines. University degree in business, management, operations, engineering, MBA or equivalent from an accredited university. Leadership, Relationship Building and Communication Skills: Ability to cultivate relationships at management and executive levels, both internally and externally, including to drive business development initiatives Ability to succeed in both team-based and independent environments Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, including ability to lead a dedicated team and collaborating with complementary teams (such as technology and technology vendor alliance teams) towards achieving common goals. Ability to navigate a multi-stakeholder environment and senior levels with the ability to build and foster long-term relationships with our clients.
