Job Summary
Oversee the Crane Crew and coordinate the daily handling and distribution of materials as well as cargo loading and unloading.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for own safety as well as that of the crew.
- Attend and participate in all pre-tour, post tour and weekly safety meetings.
- Demonstrate and Promote Safety Leadership for team members.
- Inspect and train crane crew to inspect safety apparatus and equipment.
- Understands and adheres to correct lock-out, tag-out procedures.
- Ensure all lifts are within load limits of equipment and are correctly rigged, and lifting gear is properly color coded prior to use.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new Roustabouts regarding helicopter safety, high noise area safety, appliance use, lifeboat assignment, general alarm, etc.
- Assist in organizing, planning and monitoring the work of the crane crew.
- Oversee the inspection of slings, cables, straps and the crane structure prior to lifting operations.
- Oversee preventive maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of the cranes.
- Assist in corporate and regulatory body inspections.
- Maintain up to date crane record books.
- Monitors sea and weather conditions for safe loading and unloading.
Qualifications / Experience
- High School diploma
- Two (2) or more years as a certified Crane Operator with prior offshore experience preferred.
- Strong preference for candidates with offshore experience in AHC/KBC crane operations
- Effective English communication skills (spoken and written).
