Þpartment Cardiac Progressive 3 Job Summary Join the Team on 7CY: Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgical Step Down Unit Our Cardiovascular team is recognized nationwide for their expertise and high priority on patient outcome. The specialized staff on this unit provide complex care to our cardiac progressive patients. We are a surgical step down unit, focused on receiving and caring for patients from the Intensive Care Unit and from the Post Anesthesia Unit. In addition to a dedicated Charge Nurse, Clinical Pharmacist, Case Manager, Social Worker, and Intervention LPN on our unit, we also have a Cardiovascular Registered Nurse, and an on unit Physician’s Assistant who work with the Cardiothoracic Surgeons. A mobility technician is assigned to the unit as well, to ambulate the surgical patients. All of these resources are to support the patients’ needs and provide ease for the nursing staff. Patient Population: Patients with a primary cardiac diagnosis requiring complex nursing care including but not limited to: Continuous Cardiac Monitoring AAA repair Acute Abnormal Arrhythmias Cardiac Medications and Cardiac Drips management including Insulin Drips Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization Procedures: Pacemaker, Angiography, Cardioversions, Ablations Acute Myocardial Infarction Pre Open Heart Critical Patients Post Open Heart Surgical Patients ( bypass grafting, valve replacements/ repairs, septal repairs) TAVR Procedure Carotid Endarterectomy Femoral Bypass Surgery, Thrombectomy, Angiogram, Angioplasty Veraflow Wound Vac application and maintenance Video Assisted and Robot Assisted Thoracic Surgeries Chest Tubes Acute Heart Failure SMH Opportunities for Experienced and Novice Nurse Individualized orientation Specialized training provided in Basic Arrhythmia/ACLS Cardiac Internship & Nurse Residency for all new graduates Critical thinking and assessment skill development through coaching and mentorship Tuition Reimbursement Opportunities for paid certification in Progressive Care or Cardiac (PCCN, CVRN) Advancement opportunities in becoming a Preceptor and/or Charge Nurse Unit based and/or Housewide committee involvement The Clinical Manager has 24/7 operational responsibility for a nursing unit which includes accountability for the quality of patient care, the performance of the nursing staff, assisting in the development and management of the budget, and the orientation, education, and development of the staff. Typically supervises up to 75 FTEs. Required Qualifications - Require two (2) years of staff level nursing experience. Preferred Qualifications - Prefer clinical supervisory or managerial experience. - Prefer specialty certification.
