Responsibilities Ascension Providence Hospital, Southfield Campus and Novi Campus is actively seeking a new Chair of Surgery. The Southfield Campus is located at 16001 W. 9 Mile Road, Southfield, MI and the Novi Campus is located at 47601 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI. Collectively the two campuses comprise of 565 patient beds and serve patients in at least three counties. This is a highly visible position consisting of 16 hours per week, reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer and partners with the Nursing leadership for Surgical Services. The role consists of administrative and clinical time. Unique highlights about the Department of Surgery include: ● A Level II Trauma Center with a substantial cadre of employed and private practice physicians ● Subspecialties areas include Bariatric Surgery, Breast Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Otology/Neurotology Skull Base Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Surgical Intensive Care, Trauma Surgery, Vascular Surgery and a robust minimally invasive surgery program. ● ACGME accredited General Surgery residency program with approval for 24 residents (15 categorical and 9 preliminary) over a five-year cycle ● Institutional affiliation with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (MSU-CHM), Southeastern Michigan Clinical Campus, Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSU-COM), American University of the Caribbean (AUC) and Wayne State University (WSU). The selected candidate for this position should possess a wide range of skills. These include: the ability to drive change in a complex community-based environment, strong strategic planning skills, leadership skill to bring together diverse private practice and employed physician groups toward a common goal, and a demonstrated track record of leadership accomplishments. The individual will have an understanding of organizational dynamics and fiscal responsibility, demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with clarity and transparency with diverse groups, and a strong commitment to improving quality and patient safety, clinical care, teaching, and research. Requirements Licensure / Certification / Registration: Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office. Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.
