EDIS Business Development Manager

Wellcome is looking for an EDIS (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Science) Business Development Manager to work closely with the EDIS Programme Lead, EDIS member organisations and EDIS Development Board to support the coalition and its transition to an independent entity.
The EDIS Business Development Manager will sit within the Wellcome Diversity and Inclusion team, and report directly to the EDIS Programme Lead. Wellcome is currently acting as host organisation to EDIS.

The Culture, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (CEDI) team's purpose is to bring direction, accountability, expertise and support to our journey to become an inclusive employer and funder, and build an internal culture that assists our people, and drives behaviours that further Wellcome's mission.

The growth of EDIS demonstrates commitment across the sector to equality, diversity and inclusion and Wellcome has committed to advocating this coalition as it develops as part of the CEDI strategy. EDIS has a crucial role in delivering our external synergetic work for the CEDI team to drive change; to draw in new research and insights on sector-wide issues; and to better comprehend the sector's changing outlook.
What will I be doing?
In this role you will
* Establish and maintain a project timeline with key deliverables for all operational components of EDIS spin out.
* Put in place tools, processes, resources and policies that manage risk and overcome issues to begin and grow a successful business start-up, inc. finan cial, legal, people.
* Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders to identify business needs and requirements which will form the basis of competitive infrastructure, recruitment and procurement exercises.
* Conducting competitive tender exercises for support services to EDIS i.e. Finance, Legal, HR, Insurance.
* Develop, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts working closely with the Wellcome Procurement and Legal teams.
* Develop a clear and consistent reporting framework for EDIS and associated stakeholders.
* Steer, monitor and undertake further proof of concept work such as consultation with key stakeholders and opinion leaders
* Deputise for the EDIS Programme Lead when required.
* Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, working in partnership across departments.
* Exercise cost control and seek approval for expenditure to ensure we work within the the operating budget
* Ensure adherence to our compliance policies.
* Undertake any other work that may be reasonably required from time to time
* Undertake work in accordance with Wellcome policies and principles
We are looking for someone with experience of:
* Developing complex project timelines and extracting key information from an array of documentation.
* Managing projects to a hard deadline with multiple stakeholders.
* Project / programme management methodologies including reporting and analysing results
* Supporting the establishment of up a start-up business or charitable organisation
Salary - Circa £51,000
