We are looking for an exceptional candidate to plan and manage campaign strategy, insight, and evaluation, providing expertise and vision for our exciting marketing campaigns. You will help to define the marketing strategy for the most important public health challenges; from how to drive early diagnosis in cancer, to how to improve the nation's mental health, as well as working on well-known campaigns such as Better Health or Help Us Help You – encouraging the public to live healthier lives or to change the way people access services to reduce pressures on the NHS – saving lives, improving outcomes, and making a real difference to the health of people in England.

Job description:

You will be responsible for delivering projects that incorporate behaviour change theory, data and intelligence, the latest marketing practice, and deep insight into your target audience; your job is to put these at the heart of powerful, participative marketing interventions.

You should be passionate about behaviour change. Ideally, you will have planning and evaluation experience. You will need a proven track record of thinking strategically, improving campaigns from evaluation, and using research and insight in delivery to generate real impact. You will need to be a persuasive communicator, able to confidently interpret data and present arguments and options to senior audiences.

You will be an experienced and convincing professional who can demonstrate strategic ability, passion for their work, a sound grasp of data, analytics and evaluation, and the ability to convey information clearly in person and on paper.

Responsibilities:

Public Health England provides strategic leadership and vision for protecting and improving the nation’s health. Its ambition is to lead nationally, and enable locally, a transformation in the health expectations of all people in England, regardless of where they live and the circumstance of their birth. It will achieve this through the application of research, knowledge, and skills.

The Marketing Directorate is responsible for PHE’s social marketing in support of the public health priorities. Activity is organised around two hero brands ‘Better Health’ and ‘Help Us Help you’ so that campaigns are coherent and compatible with the way people live their lives.

In October 2021, the social marketing team will transfer to the new Office of Health Promotion (OHP) within the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). The OHP will lead national efforts to improve and level up the health of the nation by tackling obesity, improving mental health, and promoting physical activity.
