Overview At PNNL, our core capabilities are divided among major departments that we refer to as Directorates within the Lab, focused on a specific area of scientific research or other function, with its own leadership team and dedicated budget. The Operational Systems Directorate (OSD) leads delivery of PNNL’s 10-year, $1.2 billion campus construction portfolio— the single largest construction and modernization effort in the Laboratory’s history. OSD oversees operations and facility services, maintenance, and infrastructure planning. The directorate stewards more than $250 million in annual budget authority; managing more than 2.5 million square feet of facility space across two campuses; overseeing approximately 200 regulatory program areas; and executing a multi-million-dollar facility and infrastructure project portfolio.  The mission of the Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) Division is to minimize risks, assure compliance with regulatory standards, and promote a culture of safety, health, and environmental stewardship.    EHS&S focuses on reducing environmental impact, promoting employee health, preventing workplace incidents, and safeguarding physical and information security. Core functions include risk assessment, safety training, environmental stewardship, health monitoring, emergency preparedness, and implementing security measures. EHS&S fosters a culture of safety, maintainability, and continuous improvement, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and long-term organizational resilience.  Responsibilities We’re seeking a detail oriented team member who can collaborate with multiple stakeholders in support of our Worker Safety and Health Program. Our ideal candidate will work to help the program verify, validate, and authenticate a variety of records while overseeing and assessing our new hazard recognition process within the Integrated Safety Management program. The candidate will assist worker safety and health in elevating our visibility and reputation throughout PNNL through frequent interaction and recognition efforts contributing to the safe and secure posture PNNL has in compliance with DOE requirements. This is a position for a multi-tasker who is able to communicate effectively. In this role, you will leverage your organizational talents to assist program staff in documenting their requirements and managing records. Additionally, this role will conduct space hazard assessments routinely identifying and documenting compliance, concerns, and associated actions. This position is expected to coordinate with staff throughout the lab on promoting a safe environment at PNNL. A normal week includes creating, tracking, and maintaining appropriate records and data. Managing documents, records, and hazard data. Interacting with federal agencies, scientists and researchers, and individuals at all levels of the organization identifying gaps and concerns while using analytical thinking to facilitate solutions. This position will have multiple priorities with complexities requiring you to analyze and identify appropriate solutions. You will collaborate with PNNL staff on hazard recognitions and corrective actions to ensure a safer work environment. Your quality of work is excellent, your documents are accurate and you enjoy data analysis. You will act as a backup for subject matter experts and assist in interpreting requirements and applying them to a variety of situations. Job Complexity: You will review procedures, established process, and exercise your judgement in determining the appropriate actions to take. You will spend a large amount of time assessing data, developing reports, and documenting trends. You will learn the governing documents and implementation methods of applicable requirements and assist with developing solutions, tasks, and other actions. You will provide excellent customer service by being a representative and advocate for the worker safety and health program. Discretion: This position requires the ability to acquire, review, analyze, and process information. You will handle business sensitive and personally identifiable information and demonstrate discretion and good operational security. You will be expected to exercise judgment and apply solutions in determining appropriate actions. Authorities and Accountabilities: Collaborate with subject matter experts on tasks and deliverables. Ensure quality of and accuracy of information in produced deliverables. Build and maintain relationships with the Worker Safety and Health team, PNNL staff, and the Department of Energy. Provide records expertise on Worker Safety and Health documents, forms, and information. Possess the ability to effectively interface and collaborate with a diverse set of customers both internal and external. Provide technical direction to PNNL staff on appropriate actions to take for hazard recognition. Continue to improve the PNNL safety culture. Conduct multiple assessments and consolidate data from other sources and assessment to determine corrective actions and trending. Take on additional work and duties within job family expectations, as assigned by your line manager. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA or higher Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with DOE Records. Experience working in Worker Safety and Health. Knowledge of hazard recognition practices in a scientific/laboratory environment. A background in assessments. Exemplary customer service skills. Detail oriented. Works within established priorities, procedures, processes and requirements requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations. Ability to work in a team environment with multiple groups to meet business goals. Affiliation with the Procedure Professionals Association (PPA) and their documents standards.
