Position Summary We seek a highly motivated and innovative student to join our Predictive Sciences team for a 10-week summer internship program. The successful candidate will work with their mentor(s) to apply and understand uncertainty quantification on machine learning (ML) algorithms to accelerate drug discovery. The intern will evaluate current uncertainty quantification methods and adapt them to steer scientific insights using internal datasets, opening the avenue to impact ongoing projects. This research is at the intersection of ML, physical chemistry, biology, and applied math. It will provide an exciting opportunity to learn and work with experienced scientists in the R&D organization in an industry setting to formulate solutions to challenging problems with ML techniques. Key Responsibilities Research current literature to become familiar with uncertainty quantification methods and their domain applications. Study, benchmark, modify, calibrate, and apply uncertainty quantification methods to deep neural networks and other machine learning algorithms in regression and classification tasks. Analyze and interpret uncertainty distributions, draw conclusions, and suggest improvements to those uncertainty quantification estimations. Present results and conclusions to internal teams. Qualifications and Experience Currently enrolled in a master’s or Ph.D. program in physical sciences, life sciences, bioinformatics, machine learning, data science, or a related field. Experience in Python programming language, software development, distributed control version systems (GIT), and machine learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, and Sklearn). Must be able to work full-time for the program duration. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
