Overview The UNFI Conventional Morning Foods Team is seeking a Customer Account Lead II (CAL II) to manage our full, cross-operating unit portfolio of General Mills products for key Central UNFI retailers. As a retail focused Customer Account Lead II you will work back closely with your UNFI counterparts to plan and execute against key business objectives. Responsibilities will include: Developing strong customer relationships with key Central UNFI retailers, including one of the largest UNFI customers Executing our UNFI merchandising plan Managing retailer spend with a focus on Trade Planner excellence Close partnership with UNFI Corporate leaders to maximize distribution opportunities and sell in items with the customer Work with broader UNFI Conventional team and cross-functional partners to drive strategic initiatives The CAL II’s primary focus is to understand customer needs and link them to General Mills product and operating unit strategies. Preferred candidates will exhibit a strong understanding of how to work with and influence our customers. They will also demonstrate the ability to guide strategy that translates the needs of our customers into growth opportunities for both GMI and the customer. This role is remote eligible, Minneapolis preferred. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: SELLING EXPERTISE & LEADERSHIP Develop and maintain effective customer relationships Understands customer needs and links them to General Mills product and OU strategies to develop mutually beneficial business plans Leverage established General Mills Sales processes to establish objectives, engage the customer, explore customer interests, explain solutions, and execute commitments Maximize performance by leveraging the full suite of customer and GMI capabilities Gain new product acceptance and merchandising levels in alignment with selling goals EXECUTIONAL EXCELLENCE Takes personal accountability and ownership for results, deeply understands consumers, delivers market leading innovation and prioritizes what’s important Meet annual sales targets by leveraging General Mills trade strategy and maintaining accurate planning and spending information in the trade planning system Collaborate with internal teams to develop promotional offers that reflect national trade strategies and optimize General Mills resources PROBLEM SOLVING & ANALYTICS Retrieve and analyze syndicated customer and consumer data to understand category and/or industry trends Leverage national category management selling stories to drive General Mills growth and distribution Understand and leverage category management principles to influence share of shelving and display ENGAGING LEADER Model Engaging Leader behaviors to foster an inclusive environment and embrace a learning mindset and demonstrate personal accountability. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree required Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience in sales, account management, trade funding, category management or other relevant experience Successful demonstration of analytical skills using various data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, CPM, sales data) Must be proficient in software packages (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint) & internal systems (Trade Planning)
