To learn more about how Willamette Dental Group is keeping our employees safe, please visit https://willamettedental.com/safety/ The Payroll Manager will provide oversight to effect timely and accurate processing of multi-state payrolls; supervise and mentor direct reports, research various inquiries and complete data analysis within the payroll department. This position will conduct work planning, estimation and prioritization to optimize performance of team and work to define standards and reusable approaches for Payroll operations. The Payroll Manager will create effective internal/external client relationships within own area of responsibility and build client relationships across the company. Essential Position Functions Oversee, manage and perform payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely multi state payroll processing for bi-monthly pay cycles and off-cycle pay requests. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual payroll and employment tax returns and other regulatory reporting requirements timely and accurately. Investigate, resolve and respond to regulatory agency payroll matter notices. Oversee and manage processes to ensure all timecards are compiled and approved in order to process payroll timely, makes adjustment to employee timecards and validates as needed Research, troubleshoot and respond to a wide range of inquiries related to payroll and time & attendance Lead and perform various payroll audits, prepare audit work papers, annual payroll surveys and other monthly/periodic/annual reports as assigned Prepare process documentation and training materials; provide training and maintain documentation for payroll and timekeeping systems Maintains Payroll systems with pay policy changes, department changes, upgrades, troubleshooting, procedures, etc. Leads payroll and cross-functional projects across payroll, human resources, IT and other departments. Provides excellent customer service to employees, management, and external parties Advances working knowledge by seeking out and participating in self development opportunities Recommends and implements process improvements Audit Payrolls for completeness and accuracy Research and resolve discrepancies of payroll information and documentation Supervise, mentor and develop payroll staff Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed Non-Essential Position Functions Additional job duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree required in finance, accounting or business-related field and at least three to five years' of payroll management experience is required OR equivalent combination of education and experience which will provide the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Licenses, Certificate and Registrations Ability to received Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) within 12 months of hire. Knowledge of: Understanding of internal controls framework. Insurance/Health Care industries. Employment taxes and understand employee and employer deductions. Basic MS Office programs, effectively navigate HRIS systems, payroll and accounting software. Skill In: Excellent management, supervisory and customer service skills required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Analytical thinking and detail oriented. Ability to: Foster teamwork and educate other team members. Identify and seek necessary information; proficient research skills. Analyze time, manage tasks and meet deadlines. Additional qualifications: Current government mandates require full COVID vaccination status, or lawful exemption status, for all persons, including student externs, who will be working or present in an Oregon or Washington health care facility. A pending federal government mandate may require other individuals to attain full COVID vaccination status, lawful exemption status or weekly COVID testing. These rules will be implemented as required by the law. Quarantine may be required for persons working or present in a health care facility, experiencing signs or symptoms of COVID infection or after being exposed to someone who is COVID positive.
