Junior Accountant

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Accountant to join our Mining & Minerals business in South Africa. <br><br><b> Main Purpose of the Role:: </b> <br><ul><li> Prepare statements for all intercompany accounts and reconcile the statements with those of the other party, resolving queries as necessary. </li><li> Prepare analysis of accounts as requested. </li><li> Maintain the Company's fixed asset register, actioning acquisitions and disposals in a timely manner. </li><li> Control the CAPEX register and the status report thereof. </li><li> Reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with the reconciliation responsibility matrix. </li><li> Assist Senior Project Accountant with BS reconciliation process in accordance with procedure. </li><li> Run Overhead by Cost centre to ensure expenses are captured correctly and investigate large movements. </li><li> Weekly review and sign off creditor's recons in accordance with the reconciliation responsibility matrix. </li><li> Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures. </li><li> Assist with preparing information and explanations for audit purposes (client, internal or external). </li><li> Assist Manager Finance as requested. </li><li> Various other ad hoc work as necessary </li></ul><br> <b> Key Responsibilities: </b> <br><ul><li> Responsible for general accounting functions. </li><li> Management of intercompany accounts. </li><li> Management of all fixed assets. </li><li> Review and process expense reports. </li><li> Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the Senior Accountants in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Qualifications & Experience: </b><br><ul><li> BCom Financial Accounting degree or equivalent </li><li> Completed Articles </li><li> Knowledge of accounting principles and practices </li><li> Knowledge of finance principles </li><li> Knowledge of financial reporting </li><li> Knowledge of local, state and federal laws regarding accounting, finances and taxation </li><li> Technical accounting skills </li><li> Previous experience of general accounting </li><li> Proficiency in relevant accounting software: MS Dynamics </li></ul><br> <b>Personal attributes:</b> <br><ul><li> Attention to detail and accuracy </li><li> Planning and organizing </li><li> Deadline-driven </li><li> Scheduling and monitoring </li><li> Communication skills </li><li> Problem analysis and problem-solving skills </li><li> Initiative </li><li> Adaptability </li><li> Team work </li><li> Confidentiality </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
