Reporting to the Vice President, MedTech Stakeholder and Innovation Communcations, the Senior Director, Thought Leadership will elevate and strengthen the reputation of Johnson & Johnson MedTech through executive communication support for the Executive Vice President and Worldwide Chairman, Ashley McEvoy, and members of her leadership team by creating a global thought leadership agenda. They will partner across a heavily matrixed environment to drive creative ideas and execution and best in class reputation lifting strategies to executive leadership communications. RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL DUTIES Lead the executive communications platform, internally and externally for EVP and Worldwide Chairman (WWC): Bring forward and refine high level overarching thought leadership communication strategy and narrative development on key business goals for WWC and other key members of J&J MedTech Leadership team Represent, understand and align business, enterprise and functional priorities to address and respond to business needs with regards to the WWC’s platforms as and the Company’s overarching executive leadership strategy Lead end-to-end campaigns about our leadership’s presence, community engagement and key business drivers leveraging events, paid media, earned media and social media and ensure team executes down to the details Prepare the WWC for all venues, helping to bring to life key messages and leadership platform objective Create and execute a MedTech-wide thought leadership strategy and plan to strengthen the J&J MedTech reputation through the voices of senior leaders and subject matter experts: Partner with the MedTech Communications and Public Affairs leadership team to build a thought leadership strategy tied to the broader business and communications strategy for MedTech Identify priority themes, placement opportunities and activations building on the breadth of expertise of our spokespeople Take advantage of the latest digital communications tools to develop MedTech-wide processes to operationalize thought leadership execution across the global 100+ person MT CPA organization Manage via influence and across matrix both colleagues and external consultants/agency partners to deliver with excellence Partner with communications colleagues leading executive support for other leaders across J&J to leverage new and collaborative opportunities and ensure an integrated approach to executive leadership platforms across the company: Partner across communications teams to ensure executive leadership platforms complement each other and drive enhanced connectivity between our thought leadership platforms Identify external opportunities (media, events, etc) for the WWC and other leadership team members to represent J&J MedTech as an industry leader on critical issues and topics Leverage the WWC’s strategic platforms and the right digital and live platforms to reach J&J MedTech’s stakeholder groups Serve as integral member of the team supporting industry and trade association activations including message development, media coordination, digital content and event planning Forge and maintain a network of partnerships across business-based teams, GCA and other internal stakeholders, that ensures the WWC’s preparedness and proactive approaches to global issue Lead best in class, creative social media activations and content creation on behalf of our leaders social profiles: Drive development of creative, connected and disruptive social media content for our leaders Maintain strong understanding of current industry, thought leadership, social media, and health policy trends affecting the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices reputation, franchises and brands Be a curious, creative, globally minded and culturally relevant leader: Be able to advise our leaders on opportunities and issues that arise and work with global team to identify opportunities and protect our reputation reactively Have global experience and be able to work with key stakeholders on key global positioning opportunities Be comfortable with ambiguity and will lean into carving opportunities while bringing along a matrixed team Qualifications Education: A bachelor’s degree is required. Required: Experience and functional competencies: Minimum 10 years senior-level experience in communication with a focus on reputation-building work Experience working in a global function Experience working in a matrixed environment Demonstrated ability to produce quality results in a high pressure, high visibility role Political campaign or key social media leadership experience preferred Strong writing and general communication skills Self-starter with proven project management skills, good judgment and demonstrated ability to solve problems Ability to interact professionally with all levels of leadership Desire to be an effective team member and to contribute proactively to group success Demonstrated ability to assimilate and operationalize strategic agenda into execution Demonstrated ability to hire and develop top talent Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire direct report teams, consultants and other partner teams Excellent organization and multitasking skills with meticulous attention to detail Experience in a highly regulated environment is preferred Other: Travel of up to 10% may be required.
