Environmental Scientist

A major oil and gas operator is looking for an Evironmental Scientist to support operations in Midland, TX on a M-F schedule working 8 hr days, 40 hrs a week. This is a one year contract opportunity with the potential for extension or permanent hire. The Environmental (SHE) Scientist will work within the SHE Department in Midland, TX. The SHE Department supports the Permian Business Unit (PBU) in West Texas and Southern New Mexico. Day to day duties include analysis of regulations, contractor planning, program execution, and maintaining regulatory compliance within existing systems. 50% of travel to Carlsbad, NM required. Vehicle allowance will be provided. <br><br>Responsibilities:<br>- Responsible for verifying the vendors and their subcontractors adhere to the contract requirements, project plans, and industry standards <br>- Responsible for communicating Technical, Operational and SSH&E concerns and issues to office personnel to ensure project proceeds according to Company standards <br>- Responsible for coordinating work in the field with other operations occurring in the same work area <br>- Responsible for adhering to SSH&E project requirements <br>- Responsible for oversight of vendors data collection, field processing, interpretation and reporting. <br><br>Qualifications:<br>- 5 years of field experience required<br>- Must be well versed in SSH&E practices and processes for field operations <br>- Must be familiar with the sampling and preservation of water column, surficial and near surficial sediments for environmental, geochemical or geological/geotechnical purposes <br>- Must be trained at observing and identifying marine mammals or in compliance with the most recent Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) guidelines (or other standards defined for the area of operations).<br /><br />With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil &amp; Gas, Power &amp; Renewables, Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining, Automotive and Chemicals sectors worldwide.With more than 100 offices in 45 countries, we are able to provide our clients with the engineering and technical expertise they need, wherever and whenever it is needed.
