<div class="mds-edited-text mds-font-body-copy-bulk"><p>The Technical Studies Lecturer is responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and on-going scholarship on the MA Material Futures Course. This course is part of the Jewellery, Textiles and Materials Programme at Central Saint Martins.</p>
<p>You will be responsible for delivering a range of technical design skills and future fabrication approaches on the MA Material Futures courses and will work collaboratively with the Course Leader to develop a strong ethos of experimental technology across the course community. Deploying specialist expertise in creative physical and digital fabrication, as well as material innovation and sustainable systems, the Technical Studies Lecturer will be key in shaping students’ design, technical and ecological thinking.</p>
<p>You will be expected to undertake:</p>
<ul>
<li>Responsibility for postgraduate students’ pastoral support, progress and attendance, maintaining records and liaising with colleagues as appropriate.</li>
<li>Pedagogic and curriculum development that stimulate thought and practice that challenge the canon of Material Design with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity.</li>
<li>Expansion of the capacity of the course design to provide technical design teaching across all stages of the Course such as: prototyping and 3D modelling software, disruptive technologies as well as Physical and Digital fabrication.</li>

<p><strong>Your profile</strong></p>

<li>Undergraduate degree in relevant design studies, engineering, material sciences or associated subject.</li>
<li>Experience of teaching & assessment in a higher education environment (permanent, fractional, or hourly paid contract).</li>
<li>Inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching.</li>
<li>Considers equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching and assessment.</li>
<li>Shows commitment to understanding the range of students’ experiences within a course.</li>
<li>Works effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people.</li>
<li>Evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/ or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of Material Design Studies activity and is relevant to the goals of the Programme, College and University.</li>
<li>Evidence of using contacts within subject peer group to develop partnerships or collaboration.</li>
<li>Familiar with debates and research relating to decolonising the curriculum and awarding gaps within the HE Sector.</li>
</ul>
