<p><b>Overview / Responsibilities </b><br />
<br />
Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer / Associate Director Civil Engineer notionally based in our Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Knutsford offices.<br />
<br />
Other locations may be possible if aligned to Wood&
39;s UK wide presence and flexible working arrangements.<br />
<br />
The successful candidate will be a leading member of a team of engineers working on multiple infrastructure projects. Primarily focusing on waste infrastructure, there is also potential to be involved with projects involving water, highways, general infrastructure, drainage and renewables.<br />
<br />
You will be given the opportunity to work on prestigious projects across the UK, notably through our existing frameworks with authorities such as Greater Manchester Waste Authority and North London Waste Authority - plus other existing clients.<br />
<br />
Our waste projects cover the full range of a project lifecycle, from supporting initial strategy led / feasibility work into the delivery of design for (and during) construction.<br />
<br />
You will play a leading role in the design and assessment of infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary design teams and will take appropriate responsibility for the delivery and quality of the design elements. You will also be expected to win and deliver your own work - either in a supporting or leading role depending on the opportunity.<br />
<br />
We are looking for individuals that have a strong base of technical skills coupled with excellent organisational and communication skills gained in either a multi-disciplinary or engineering consultancy environment who now want to enhance and diversify these skills within a growing organisation that will support their future development.<br />
<br />
<b>Key Duties </b></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ul>
<li>Deliver engineering services/projects to a range of sectors (primarily waste, but also water, utilities, transport / highways and industrial)</li>
<li>Lead civil engineering design teams and co-ordinate multidisciplinary teams, providing mentoring to junior team members where appropriate</li>
<li>Co-ordination and production of specifications, construction drawings and contract documents</li>
<li>Preparation of technical reports at various project stages including feasibility, concept and detailed design</li>
<li>Liaising with the clients and developing and maintaining trust relationships</li>
<li>Develop capabilities and experience of the team in order to sell services to other UK and international major infrastructure projects</li>
<li>Contribute to and lead engineering inputs to PQQs and tenders</li>
<li>Adhere to quality and technical assurance procedures for all deliverables produced by the team</li>
<li>Compliance with Wood&
39;s HS&amp;E, quality, financial, risk management, business and policy requirements</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Extensive experience in multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy projects - ideally within the waste sector</li>
<li>Experience of working on design of major infrastructure projects</li>
<li>Experience in Modern Methods of Construction</li>
<li>Experience of leading, developing and growing an engineering team</li>
<li>Demonstrable technical review/assurance skills</li>
<li>Working knowledge of health and safety requirements and CDM2015</li>
<li>Awareness of 2D and 3D design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit etc)</li>
<li>Excellent English verbal and written communication skills</li>
</ul>

<li>Experience in project management and project direction</li>
<li>Experience in multi-sector and international projects</li>
<li>Experience in site supervision and contract administration</li>
<li>Experience of working in an NEC4 contract environment, plus other forms</li>
<li>Working knowledge and experience of the application of BIM</li>
<li>Awareness of drainage design software (MicroDrainage, Infoworks)</li>
</ul>

<li>Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering</li>
<li>Member of a relevant professional body such as ICE</li>
<li>Chartered Engineer</li>
