HSE Advisor

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently recruiting for a HES Advisor with offshore upstream Oil and Gas commissioning experience. The location for this position will be Ingleside, TX. Starting: March 2022. <br><br><b>** US Only-</b> Authorization to work permanently in the US without sponsorship required. <br><br><b>PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: </b>The HSE Advisor reports to the HSE Lead and will be responsible for the provision of timely advice and guidance on all matters pertaining to Health, Safety and the Environment with respect to Legislation, Company Policy and Management System and Client requirements, thereby ensuring business risks are prevented and mitigated. The position will ensure compliance with applicable HSEQ Management System, Customer Safety Policies, and governmental regulations by supervising the development of procedures and safety plans and ensuring proper execution. <br><br><b>KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB:</b> Keen safety awareness and advocacy; multi-discipline technical team leadership, planning, and coordination of work within a simultaneous operations environment, having technical expertise relevant to design and operation of assigned systems and liaising with equipment engineers, equipment vendors, construction personnel and operations team members. <br><br><b>CRITICAL SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: </b>Be responsible for understanding and executing Woods's and Clients Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all phases of the project. Personal safety awareness and team safety awareness are necessary. <br><br><b>RESPONSIBILITIES:</b> <br><ul><li> Embracing Wood and Clients strategic purpose, goals, and objectives and translates these into practical concepts relevant to HSEQ management. </li><li> Developing annual HSE improvement plans in line with Company and Client strategic and business unit objectives. </li><li> Managing the project HSE interface requirements; ensuring compliance with all existing interface documents and in the development of future plans. </li><li> Ensuring the requirements stipulated in HSE interface documents/plans are communicated to all relevant personnel. </li><li> Supporting HSE incident investigations and undertaking the appropriate reporting requirements. </li><li> Assist in coordinating internal and external audits. </li><li> Communicating the important messages from incidents and accidents as a part of the Lessons learned process to all relevant parties. </li><li> Promoting and communicating lessons learned from within their own project; reporting deficiencies within project and corporate functions and recording all reportable issues within company action tracking and incident reporting systems. </li><li> Ensuring that emergency response arrangements are in place and are communicated to all personnel; ensuring that project requirements align with Client requirements if these take precedence. </li><li> Liaising with and building relationship with Client HSE Reps and site Safety Reps as required. </li><li> Managing attendance and participation at project HSE meetings, workshops and forums. </li><li> Maintaining a system for monitoring HSE performance. </li><li> Developing a site HSE visit programme for both self and for project/contract management and for Corporate HSE management. </li><li> Promoting workforce involvement in all HSE activities, initiatives and programmes. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b> Candidate should be a motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving ability. Excellent communication skills and team-oriented personality required to interface with Construction and Operations Teams including but not limited to Senior Managers, Directors and Leaders, Procurement, Operations, Engineering/Technology Teams, Commercial Business Units, Global Peers , Suppliers, Third party providers, External auditors, Regulatory authorities, and the Client. Working knowledge of offshore oil and gas process, drilling and topsides facilities including power generation and distribution, control and safety systems, oil and gas separation, turbine driven gas compression, rotating equipment, utility support and lifesaving systems. <br><br>At a minimum, the candidate should have: <br><ul><li> C&G, ONC/HNC or equivalent in Technical, HSE or related industry </li><li> NEBOSH Certificate </li><li> NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable) </li><li> Commitment to continuous improvement </li><li> Good communication and team-working skills. </li></ul><br><br><b>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: </b> <br><br> Proven background including: <br><ul><li> 2-5 years in a technical role, or association with HSE role in another industry </li><li> Familiarization with industry regulations </li><li> Good planning and organizational skills </li><li> Effective/competent MS Office Suite User </li><li> High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
