Cost Engineer

Scope/Overall Purpose of job<br> <br> Provide cost services for the Project Teams responsible for delivering Repair Orders, Facilities Engineering and Fabric Maintenance scopes.  Member of the Client Project Controls Team accountable for maintaining a rigorous control environment including:  Cost Estimating, Cost Reporting and general support services to the Projects.<br> <br> <br> Key Job Responsibilities<br> <br>  <br><br><ul><li>Provide project-wide WBS, cost estimating, cost forecasting, cost control, trend and cost reporting services (including owner and partner management reporting).</li><li>Work closely with technical teams to understand project scopes and ensure accurately captured.</li><li>Prepare accurate cash forecasting to ensure optimum borrowing levels are well understood and communicated.</li><li>Control, understand and reflect impact of project change</li><li>Provide monthly VOWD to Finance</li><li>Liaise with contractor's cost control staff to ensure accurate cost tracking, reporting and invoicing, suggesting process enhancements when required. Providing robust challenge with contractors project management team on specific cost issues and more general process.</li><li>Prepare accurate and timely information for to provide to corporate planning cycles and adhoc requests from Leadership Team, Board and Lending Banks</li></ul><br> CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS<br>   Experience Required<br>  <ul><li>Offshore oil and gas background (0-5 years) ideally with project cost controls experience on projects <?5MM.</li><li>Sound business background including experience in contracts, finance or planning.</li><li>Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting.</li><li>Knowledge of cost reporting and analysis.</li><li>Basic analytical skills with ability to assess project cost and identify gaps and risks.</li><li>Proficient in managing data, interpreting and analysing trends.</li><li>Some experience of reviewing and interpreting contracts.</li><li>Good general working knowledge of SAP (or complex similar accounting system).</li></ul><br> Experience Preferred<br>  <ul><li>Experience of the needs of other Disciplines and how these link to Project Cost Control including technical, SCM, HSEQ, Information Management and Construction.</li><li>Cost Estimating -working understanding and practical application of AACE classification ability to prepare robust cost estimate for project scopes</li><li>Cost Risk - working knowledge of risk management tool Safran, or similar, to manage cost risk and support CSRAs</li><li>Experience in Decommissioning activities</li></ul><br> Qualifications/Competencies Required and Preferred<br>  <ul><li>Degree qualified in an appropriate technical or commercial discipline.</li><li>Accuracy and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to build a strong relationship with key contractor personnel and project controls team.</li><li>Strong communications, networking and interpersonal skills</li><li>Planning and organisational competency.</li><li>Enthusiastic with a questioning and challenging attitude.</li><li>Ability to work with and for multiple customers.</li><li>Trusted and approachable.</li><li>Proactive approach</li></ul><br /><br />With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil &amp; Gas, Power &amp; Renewables, Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining, Automotive and Chemicals sectors worldwide.With more than 100 offices in 45 countries, we are able to provide our clients with the engineering and technical expertise they need, wherever and whenever it is needed.
