<b>Senior Paralegal/Legal Assistant</b><br> <br> <b>Mission</b><br> <br> The Senior Paralegal/Legal Assistant is responsible for providing specialized legal support under the direction and supervision of the responsible lawyer. Such support includes legal research, preparation of legal documents, review and negotiation of contracts and other documents, and organization of workflow and department activities.<br> <br> <b>Responsibilities</b><br> <ul> <li> As Paralegal/Legal Assistant, Operations or Product Line: Prepare legal documents; prepare and negotiate terms and conditions for legal documents including vendor contracts, consulting agreements, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements; research specialized requests and present recommendations; maintain databases and files for contracts, consultants, real estate and subpoenas; manage junior level staff; manage complex legal matters including large document productions and due diligence requests; interface with internal and external clients, including vendors, outside counsel and other professionals; expedite flow of work through department.</li> <li> As Paralegal/Legal Assistant, Intellectual Property (IP): Prepare IP related contracts; negotiate contracts such as confidentiality agreements and consulting agreements; docket contracts; maintain intranet pages; prepare drafts of patent prosecution forms and filings, such as requests for correction, information disclosure statements, and submittal of formal drawings; prepare correspondence with inventors; draft trademark and copyright registration application; arrange for recognition of inventors; docket deadlines for patent prosecution, fees and annuities, and handle correspondence with outside counsel; docket pre-application process; research specialized requests and present recommendations; prepare activity reports; maintain the US Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) deposit account; obtain copies of patents, file histories, and conduct patent and trademark searches; provide notary services; maintain databases and files for contracts, consultants, publications, and IP; coordinate publication approval; maintain legal subscriptions; expedite flow of work through department; organize meetings, arrange conferences, and assist with travel arrangements; maintain confidentiality on department issues; supervise others as required.</li> <li> As Paralegal/Legal Assistant, Technology Centers: Review and log contract submission requests from Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering and other groups; work with requestors to determine agreement type; draft contracts for review by Attorney and route for approval; input contract information, agreements and related documents into contracts database; maintain docket for actions due and expiring contracts; support online request system for centers; support training efforts; provide administrative support for general legal issues; perform legal research and draft memoranda; prepare nondisclosure agreements; log and track general legal disputes and litigation involving the center; log, review and forward invoices from vendors, including outside counsel; coordinate special projects relating to legal issues; support special investigations; supervise others as required.</li> <li> As Paralegal/Legal Assistant, IP Litigation: Conduct preliminary investigations into facts surrounding new enforcement assertions and lawsuits including direct contact with managers, engineers, IP Counsel, and outside parties; prepare litigation database reports; manage files, correspondence, memos, pleadings, and client documents, and maintain calendars of key dates; coordinate responses to litigation or notices of disputes with the Litigation Manager; coordinate with outside counsel in locating documents and information for litigation discovery responses; assist outside counsel in drafting affidavits; perform legal research as necessary; draft memoranda for review by the Senior Counsel, IP Licensing and Litigation; interview potential witnesses and coordinate witness attendance at meetings, depositions, hearings and trials; handle the discovery aspects of a docket of approximately 40-50 cases; help prepare quarterly litigation reports for management; develop a robust licensing database for monitoring obligations and revenues owed and paid; attend litigation-related proceedings; organize special projects for the technology center; supervise others as required.</li> </ul> <br> <b>Education</b><br> <ul> <li> Minimum 3 years directly related experience. </li> </ul> <br> Schlumberger is an equal employment opportunity employer.
