Product Quality Lead

<p>Our client is looking for a Product Quality Lead for a permanent position, located in Aberdeen</p>

<p><strong>ROLE</strong></p>

<p>The job entails providing support to the business for all Quality Assurance activities including the effective maintenance of Integrated Management System (IMS). The job holder shall ensure that significant issues are appropriately investigated, ensuring lessons are identified and verified as part of internal audit arrangements and incorporated as best practice.</p>

<p>The job holder must be able to pro-actively and effectively communicate and collaborate at all levels across the business including clients and supply chain and demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to resolving problems.</p>

<p>It is also expected that the person appointed is pro-active, in that the jobholder is expected to contribute to our aim of continuous improvement by advising on the operation of our QHSE systems and processes, reporting any issues to line management as appropriate.</p>

<p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>Support Enquiry Review activities ensuring Client/Project requirements are evaluated, understood, and responded to in a timely manner including client questionnaires- highlight exceptions and/or clarifications as appropriate.</li>
<li>Promote the continued development and improvement of the IMS and ensuring the IMS continues to meet the requirements of applicable management system standards e.g., ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001.</li>
<li>Liaise with production and project department to ensure QC labour demand is planned. Develop 'norms' for product inspections, where applicable.</li>
<li>Supervise, coach and mentor QC Inspectors and regularly review inspection resources to ensure project and operational needs are fulfilled.</li>
<li>Coordination of client inspection activities - liaise with client appointed inspection resources as appropriate.</li>
<li>Identify improvements to inspection systems and processes including the use of technology e.g., inspection equipment, real-time inspection reporting.</li>
<li>Ensure manufactured and procured products are inspected in a timely manner to verify conformance to specified requirements i.e., PO, drawing, specifications. ITP's including first article, in-process, and final inspections.</li>
<li>Provide information, instruction, and training to ensure product and/or material non-conformances are identified and segregated from use until dispositioned and documented information retained.</li>
<li>Ensure that remedial actions to address product and/or material non-conformances are verified prior inspection release and inspection statuses are updated accordingly</li>
<li>Ensure inspection requirements are clearly identified, implemented, and understood including Client/Project requirements as per approved ITPs and procured goods and/or materials.</li>
<li>Maintain effective inspection reporting systems and ensure that records of inspection are clear and accurate and provided in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Ensure that product identification and traceability is maintained to support Client/Project requirements.</li>
<li>Regularly review and agree inspection reporting requirements with projects and manufacturing, ensuring documented information is retained.</li>
<li>Ensure monitoring and measurement devices are calibrated and maintained and documented information is retained.</li>
<li>Ensure damaged/faulty monitoring and measurement devices are segregated from unintended use and the repair and recalibration or destruction is approved as appropriate.</li>
<li>Attend Client/Project meetings, as required to support of project or operational requirements.</li>
<li>Support the periodic review of Inspection & Test Plan templates with the Projects department.</li>
<li>Support the supply chain department in the maintenance and development of new and existing suppliers and sub-contractors including supplier qualification and performance monitoring.</li>
<li>Conduct risk-based audits, to verify compliance to requirements including Client/Project, legislative or regulatory ensuring documented information is retained.</li>
<li>Identify and share audit outcomes, ensure improvements are agreed and communicated in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Support second- or third-party audits including Client/Project audits, certification audits and product approvals audits.</li>
<li>Provide information, instruction, and training to ensure Customer Complaints and NCRs are managed in a timely and effective manner including the root cause investigation and (corrective) actions to prevent recurrence are agreed.</li>
<li>Verify the effectiveness of (corrective) actions to prevent recurrence prior to closure ensuring documented information is retained.</li>
<li>Monitor, measure, analyse and communicate QHSE performance and recommend actions to prevent recurrence ensuring documented information is retained.</li>
<li>Participate in Project Lessons Learned reviews ensuring lessons are identified, shared, communicated, and learned.</li>
<li>Verify the effectiveness of historical corrective actions e.g., during internal audits ensuring documented information is retained</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS</strong></p>

<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>

<p>Required:</p>

<ul>
<li>Lead Assessor qualified to relevant management system standard.</li>
<li>Professional quality management qualification e.g., CQI Diploma, MSc in Quality Management or equivalent.</li>
</ul>

<p>Desirable:</p>

<ul>
<li>Industry recognised welding inspection qualification e.g., CSWIP 3.0 Visual Weld Inspection.</li>
<li>Professional Occupational health and safety qualification e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate, British Safety Council, MSc Health, Safety and Risk Management.</li>
<li>Professional membership e.g., IOSH or CQI, or equivalent.</li>
<li>Suitable sciences, engineering, or business qualification e.g., degree or HNC.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Experience</strong></p>

<p>Required:</p>

<ul>
<li>A minimum of 5 years working within a quality management discipline, with at least 2 of these years' experience working supervising inspectors.</li>
<li>Relevant previous experience coaching, mentoring and developing people.</li>
<li>Practical application of management systems models, standards, and associated terminology e.g., ISO9001 or equivalent.</li>
<li>Understanding of root cause analysis tools and techniques, e.g., Ishikawa, 8D, 5Why.</li>
<li>Proven experience and capability in leading root cause investigation and application of root cause analysis methods.</li>
<li>Experienced Lead Auditor involved in preparation and implementation of risk-based audit programmes.</li>
<li>Knowledge of relevant industry technical codes and standards, e.g., BS EN 10204</li>
<li>Knowledge of mechanical/ metallurgical testing principles, e.g., radiography, NDT/NDE.</li>
<li>Understanding of national calibration requirements e.g., UKAS certification requirements.</li>
</ul>

<p>Desirable:</p>

<ul>
<li>Relevant previous experience within a manufacturing environment.</li>
<li>Practical application of applicable UK HSE legislative/regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Proven experience and capability in developing and maintaining business management systems.</li>
<li>Experience of leading and coordinating third party certification audits activities.</li>
