Lead HSE Advisor

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>The HSSE&S Lead is responsible for the provision of timely advice and guidance on matters pertaining to Health & Safety, Security, Environment & Sustainability, with respect to Legislation, Company Policy and Management System and Client requirements, thereby reducing risks to the business. <br><br>The HSSE&S Lead will report to the UK HSSE&S Manager for the Projects Business Unit and have direct responsibility for the members of the Power Solutions Ltd HSSE&S team. <br><br>Whilst the role is nominally based at one of the Company's facilities in Darlington, the HSSE&S Lead is expected to undertake visits to the business' facilities and worksites around the UK to, for example, provide support, carry out assurance activities and incident investigations, provide sickness / holiday cover, etc. <br><br><b>Responsibilities:</b> <br><ul><li> Provide strategic advice, guidance and support on HSSE&S matters to the business' Senior Leadership Team, Project Managers and HSSE&S Advisors. </li><li> In conjunction with the UK HSSE&S Manager, roll out Company HSSE&S objectives and develop specific HSSE&S objectives for the business, as necessary. </li><li> Roll out Company HSSE&S campaigns and initiatives and develop and roll out business-specific campaigns and initiatives. </li><li> Monitor industry best practice to assist in the development of the above. </li><li> Lead high potential (Level 2) incident investigations and provide support and / or review lower potential (Level 1) incident investigations. </li><li> Establish and ensure an acceptable quality of incident investigations, including the generating of meaningful lessons learned, recorded as SMART corrective / preventative actions. </li><li> Undertake management support visits to Power Solutions facilities and worksites and providing constructive reviews of the status. </li><li> Develop and ensure the implementation of an annual, risk-based, assurance schedule. </li><li> Provide weekly reports to the business leadership and UK HSSE&S Manager. </li><li> Undertake leading and lagging indicator analysis for the business and provide business-wide alerts to advise the business leadership of trends which cause concern </li><li> Provide an HSSE&S focal point for clients </li><li> Provide training and mentorship for new recruits into the HSSE&S team, as appropriate </li><li> Provide cross-Business Unit support as required </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b>Qualifications:</b> <br><ul><li> Level 4 Certificate in Health & Safety (minimum) or Level 6 Diploma in Health & Safety or higher (desirable) </li><li> OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 Internal Auditor (desirable) </li></ul><br> <b>Knowledge, skills, and experience:</b> <br><ul><li> Lead / Senior HSSE&S Advisor with project and corporate experience in transmission and distribution, oil and gas or other related industry </li><li> Excellent working knowledge of UK legislation </li><li> Ability to develop and maintain management systems </li><li> Ability to undertake investigations and establish causal factors and root causes and then develop suitably detailed investigation reports including corrective/preventative actions </li><li> Ability to develop training and campaign materials </li><li> High level of communication skills, (both written and spoken), and ability to use them effectively across all aspects of the business, (e.g., with the workforce, business management, HSSE&S management and client) </li><li> Good planning and organisational skills </li><li> Competent MS Office suite user </li></ul><br> <b>Personal attributes:</b> <br><ul><li> Demonstrable commitment to company and client values </li><li> Commitment to HSSE&S and a passion for developing incident-free workplaces </li><li> Commitment to continual improvement </li><li> Strong communication and networking skills </li><li> Trustworthy and approachable </li><li> Well-developed influencing and interpersonal skills </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
