HSE Advisor, Shutdown

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently seeking applications from HSE Advisors for Phosphate Hill with <b> 3 - 5 years' experience </b> in providing professional health, safety and environmental advice on the upcoming refinery shutdown . The successful candidate will have a trade background and previous HSE experience in heavy industry, minerals or oil refining. <br><br>This is a short-term casual role commencing <b>mid-April (no later),</b> for a period of approximately 10-12 weeks. The role is <b> FIFO from Brisbane. </b> At this time, we will <b>only consider </b>applications from Australian citizens or those with the required permit/VISA for this region, in place. <br><br><b> Responsibilities </b><br><ul><li> Ensure duties are performed in line with both Wood's and client's HSE programs </li><li> Foster and maintain a collaborative, high-performing and client-oriented culture of safety and continuous improvement </li><li> Conduct in-field Safe Behaviour Observations including coaching of workers in HSE-initiatives and desired behaviours </li><li> Ensure compliance is followed and take initiative </li><li> Regular liaison with representatives of the Client and other contractors on site including participation in daily meetings to discuss HSE issues and performance </li><li> Assist in gathering data for incorporating in reports in accordance with Wood reporting requirements </li><li> Implement and monitor Wood's Safety Shield strategy that will assist in improving compliance and sustained performance </li><li> Monitor the efficiency of HSE programmes initiated by contractors </li><li> Monitor corrective actions from incidents and workplace inspections to ensure items are closed out within appropriate timeframe </li><li> Conduct and/or assist in hazard, accident/incident investigations, including near misses </li><li> Review contractors risk assessments and provide professional advice to ensure hazards are reduced </li><li> Commitment to zero harm by following Wood and Client HSE procedures and protocols. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Skills </b> <br><ul><li> Previous relevant experience within heavy industry, minerals or oil refining processing industries </li><li> 3-5 years as HSE practitioner. This is not a senior role </li><li> Proven ability to influence and mentor others in HSE principles and behaviours </li><li> A good standard of written and high level of verbal communication skills including public speaking </li><li> Demonstrated experience conducting and development of effective Corrective Actions </li><li> Knowledge of ISO 45001 Safety Management Systems preferred but not mandatory </li><li> Ability to analyse difficult problems and identify practical solutions for their resolution </li><li> Ability to work as part of a high performing team as well as individually </li></ul><br> <b> Qualifications </b> <br><ul><li> Certificate IV, Diploma or Tertiary Qualifications in WHS are required </li><li> Trade background and/or High Risk Work Licences for EWP, Forklift and Rigger/Dogman will be well regarded </li><li> Basic computer and report writing skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel </li><li> Nationally Recognised Training in Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights (desirable). </li></ul><br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
