Overview & Responsibilities Republic Finance is seeking a Legal Collections Specialist (LCS) to join our growing team! This is an entry level, Monday - Friday positoin. The LCS is a key role within the organization responsible for all litigation accounts placed with the Small Claims court. This role is responsible for ensuring the Small Claims court has received the required documents and payment moving a litigation account through each necessary milestone from placement of the file to judgment, and later, post judgment collections including wage garnishments. The Legal Collections Specialist works with other members of the Litigation Team to (1) place approved litigation accounts with the Small Claims court; (2) process documents timely ensuring expedient movement of a litigation account through the Small Claims process; and (3) ensure appropriate documents and costs are provided to the Small Claims courts through each required legal step. You will work with operations, compliance, audit, legal and other key partners who may be both internal and external to the organization ensuring set litigation timelines are met. As a key member of the Centralized Operations team within this growing organization, you have an opportunity to grow professionally in this role. Job Responsibilities are as follows: Review accounts approved to move through Small Claims legal process, prepare petitions, provides payment to court and places Pro Se litigation accounts with Small Claims courts timely in the state assigned. Communicates with internal Centralized Operations team to ensure accounts which require additional skip-tracing information is received and provided to the court timely. Works with Small Claims court staff to ensure each placed packet meets required expectations to move expediently through litigation timeline including initiating suit, receiving judgment and post-judgment collections through the court system. Places appropriate documents with Private Processing firms to ensure timely service of litigation documents. Updates internal sites with each step of the litigation process completed by you. Handles inbound calls from branches and court network surrounding legal assignment. Updates judgment information and conducts judgment adjustments in loan system. Adheres to policies and procedures when determining suitable collection solutions, including the Fair Debt Collection Law and all Policy and Procedure. Communicates the execution of Civil Lawsuits, Garnishments, Judgment Debtors, Recording Judgments, Re-Inscribing Judgments and other actions to resolve accounts. Handles closure and/or satisfaction of legal accounts placed with Small Claims courts. Effectively builds trust with customers and internal staff by embodying and demonstrating the philosophy of the organization, including core values, company policies, operational procedures and compliance. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Demonstrates ability to manage collection accounts, including bankruptcy, litigation and recovery.
