<p style="text-align: justify;">Since its foundation 85 years ago, our client has grown from a small agency supporting women to find employment during the Depression of the 1930’s, to a unique London based Housing Association and Charity owning and managing around 900 social rented homes for women and their families across London.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Their roots go back to the suffragette movement and they continue in the footsteps of those early campaigners, working with some of the most marginalised women in the UK, including those who have escaped domestic abuse and trafficking or are rebuilding their lives on release from prison.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Empowering women and challenging inequality are at the core of everything they do. Since 1934, they have been working to build a more equal society for women and have aspirations for growth and expanded services.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As part of our ongoing succession planning, we are now seeking new Board Members who share their our vision and values and can work with the current Board (who bring experience from diverse sectors), Chief Executive and staff to shape and develop future direction.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In particular we are seeking Board Members with any of the following experience: </p>
<p><strong>Supported Housing</strong> - ideally women’s services, violence against women, girls services or fundraising/tendering</p>
<p><strong>Legal -</strong> ideally a lawyer, however someone with substantial experience of legal issues in a housing setting would also be welcome</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You will be joining a high-calibre board at a time of growth and change - we are looking for individuals whose knowledge and experience will complement and add new perspectives.</p>
<p>While we do not require every appointee to have previous non-executive experience or sector-specific knowledge, all Board members do share a real interest and passion for women’s issues, and especially the ability of low income and vulnerable women to live in safe and affordable homes in London.</p>
