Junior Cost Controller

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently looking for a <b>Junior Cost Controller </b>to join Oil and Gas Canada team in <b>Calgary, Alberta.</b><br><br>Please note this role will work our hybrid work schedule of 3-2, with a minimum of 3 days/week in the office.<br><br><b> Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: </b><br><br><ul><li> Assist in the development and maintenance of project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for specific scopes </li><li> Liaise with procurement, finance and time-capture functions, and third parties as required, to ensure accurate and timely capture of procurement, materials, subcontract and labour costs </li><li> Support the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals </li><li> Assist in the development and maintenance of project cost budgets using appropriate software applications </li><li> Provide inputs to project cost performance reports in accordance with project reporting requirements </li><li> Receive, review, attest and process vendor invoices using Wood and/or client systems </li><li> Review contract terms and conditions as they relate to billing and collections </li><li> Ensure client billing is accurate and in accordance with contracts </li><li> Month End hours and account reconciliations; Reconciliation of Invoice supporting backup as required </li><li> Analyze standard operating procedures as they relate to billing and identify areas for improvement </li><li> Assistant in the monitoring and reporting on cost impact of project manpower forecasts </li><li> Assist in the development of project change orders / variations in accordance with engineering, procurement and construction change notifications </li><li> Assistant in monitoring overall project cost performance and contingency drawdown. </li><li> Participate in the project cost close-out process. </li><li> Participate in Project Controls Compliance and Continuous Improvement Reviews </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Post-secondary, college or BSc. In engineering, accounting, finance, business or project administration </li><li> One (1) to Two (2) years of cost control and or financial accounting administration experience </li><li> Basic understanding of engineering and construction contracts </li><li> Basic knowledge of cost software and related principles, tools and techniques including budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow </li><li> Basic knowledge of Project Execution Procedures for Cost Management including Change Management </li><li> Basic understanding of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting capabilities </li><li> Basic understanding of change management and associated cost and schedule processes </li><li> Ability to work well in a team and independently </li><li> Ability to build exemplary working relationship with project teams and clients with professional service focus </li><li> Strong numerical and analytical skills </li><li> Commitment to continuous improvement </li><li> Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
