Cost Controller

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood's Power Solutions business performs consulting and EPCM services for many of Canada's power generation and power distribution companies. <br><br>Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Cost Controller. Reporting to the Manager, Project Services, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. The Cost Controller has overall responsibility for leading project cost activities and resources to ensure cost effective, efficient and timely completion project in order to meet and/or exceed client expectations. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this is the opportunity for you. <br><br><b>Key responsibilities: </b> <br><ul><li> Analyzing and forecasting project costs as well as developing, preparing and collecting schedule and cost data for monthly project reports </li><li> Creating and managing detailed project information related to contractual schedule, scope and cost </li><li> Reporting project cost status to management for internal reviews, as well as analyzing cost variances and recommending corrective actions </li><li> Participating in earned value analysis activities </li><li> Setting up projects and tracking and analyzing engineering man-hours and associated costs within Wood's proprietary management system. </li><li> Ensuring all project tasks are identified and resource needs are properly estimated. </li><li> Preparing and assisting in the development and implementation of project baseline budgets </li><li> Reviewing project scope change(s) and preparing change order requests to ensure proper justification, schedule impacts, and adequate budget and funding. </li><li> Reviewing and assisting in the preparation of monthly invoices </li><li> Preparing various cost reports and performing a variety of cost-related tasks to support the entire program; </li><li> Assisting with the generation and maintenance of various Excel files and templates </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> A degree in a relevant discipline or commensurate experience </li><li> Excellent knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, earned value analysis and project reporting. </li><li> Ability to work at an advanced level with all Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel </li><li> An understanding of change management and ability to translate this into appropriate action. </li><li> Superior analytical, problem solving, audit and investigation skills </li><li> Knowledge of procurement/contracts, construction management and document control </li><li> Previous experience working with Oracle would be an asset </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
