We look for people who are committed to innovation and success and act with integrity to become and be a part of one of the most diverse group of experts in our industry, anywhere around the globe.<br> <br> Global in outlook, local in practice - and with a united, shared passion for discovering solutions, we hire talented, driven people and support them to succeed, personally and professionally.<br><br><b>Job Description</b><br> <br> The Patent Attorney is charged with the responsibility of providing support to the Intellectual Property (IP) Function and ensuring smooth, timely, and efficient turnaround of patent and trademark documents, research, and other related activities and requests from Intellectual Property (IP) attorneys within SLB.<br><br><b>Roles and Responsibilities:</b><br> <ul> <li> Assisting attorneys to intake, review, and summarize recent invention disclosures from inventors across all of SLB</li> <li> Prepare patent applications on new inventions, and collaborate with inventors and supervising patent attorneys to understand the scope of the invention and strategies for domestic and international patent filings</li> <li> Review freedom-to-operate and technology landscape documents, and update the documents with relevant information regarding SLB and third-party Intellectual Property (IP)</li> <li> Assist Intellectual Property (IP) attorneys in reviewing patent applications in advance of international filing deadlines and reviewing claim sets to reduce excess claim fees</li> <li> Evaluate and prepare responses to preliminary rejections from patent offices around the world, including responses to unity of invention rejections, restriction and election requirements, notices to file missing parts, and request to correct application papers.</li> <li> Prepare and coordinate filing of applications and responses to examination reports in jurisdictions where licensed to practice patent law.</li> <li> Assisting business line attorneys and working with the sales and commercial team to evaluate trademark usage and collect specimens of trademarks to obtain and extend trademark protection.</li> <li> Reviewing patent applications with annuities and preparing materials for maintenance of the patents by technical and business stakeholders.</li> <li> Preparing slides or collecting materials or information for internal training purposes, and providing internal training.</li> <li> Preparation and negotiation of Intellectual Property (IP)-related agreements, including unilateral and bilateral confidentiality agreements, sponsored research agreements, joint development agreements, consulting agreements, and master service agreements.</li> <li> Assisting on other ad hoc patent, trademark, and Intellectual Property (IP)-related investigations and matters</li> </ul> <br><br><b>Qualifications and Experience:</b><br> <ul> <li> Bachelor's degree in Law</li> <li> At least 2-years of experience in a law firm</li> <li> Has experience and exposure in patent preparation and prosecution experience</li> <li> Has technical background, preferably in engineering, science, data analytics, technology, or mathematics</li> </ul> <br><br>SLB is an equal employment opportunity employer.
