<div class="mds-edited-text mds-font-body-copy-bulk"><p>The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of all forms of portraiture of the people who have made or are currently contributing to British history and culture; the collection is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world. With around 2 million visitors each year prior to temporary closure for the Inspiring People project and a strong national and international presence through touring exhibitions and special projects, the Gallery is one of the country’s most important and popular galleries.</p>
<p><strong>Communications Officer<br />
£26,625 per annum<br />
Full-time, 40 hours per week<br />
Fixed Term Contract for 22 months<br />
Home (up to 3 days per week) and Site based</strong></p>
<p>Working closely with the Senior Communications Manager and Digital Communications Manager, the Communications Officer will play a key role in the activities of the National Portrait Gallery’s Communications team. The post holder will be responsible for providing effective and efficient support to a small but busy team, assisting with digital communications and the day-to-day running of the Press Office, and acting as a point of contact for social media, telephone and email enquiries.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a communications team ideally within a museum, arts or heritage organisation or similar environment, alongside experience in managing and maintaining accurate complex data, particularly working with CRM databases (e.g. Tessitura). They will be a strong communicator, with excellent written communication skills in order to deal effectively with email and social media enquiries. </p>
<p>This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individual to gain exposure to arts PR and marketing at an internationally renowned institution.</p>
