The Human Resources Generalist is a full-time, exempt position located in our Baton Rouge, LA or Charlotte, NC office on a hybrid schedule. In this role you will be responsible contacting and performing intake calls with employees who report COVID-19 exposure and illness as well as performing HR-related duties in the following functional areas: compensation, employee relations, training, policy implementation, performance management and employment law compliance. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, additional hours may be required from time to time depending on the business’s needs. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources. Incumbent into this position will work under guided supervision but will mostly be acting independently on dedicated projects or duties. Job responsibilities are as follows: Monitor inbox and complete calls with employees who have reported symptoms or exposure to COVID-19, using CDC and company established guidelines Log details of calls into Excel spreadsheet Update timecards with PTO and notes related to absence Follow up and document employees returning to work Respond to questions and concerns regarding quarantine and company policy Assist in adhering to OSHA vaccine mandate as currently implemented, including reporting on company vaccine documentation and weekly testing Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual. Participates in developing HR department objectives and systems. Assist employee relations team with counseling, termination meetings, investigations and exit questionnaire process. Develops several HR metric reports and provides analytics for metrics across the department. Assists with new policy rollouts or implementations. Uses salary survey tool to analyze market rates and recommend compensation pay range updates and changes. Maintains human resources information system records and compiles reports from the database. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. Compiles annual EEO-1 report. Expected to have full understanding of various HR department systems such as the payroll HRIS system, various databases, and evaluation database system. Also expected to fully understand and troubleshoot file feed schedules from HRIS system to outside vendors and internal customers. Responsible for creating presentation materials for senior leadership periodically depending on retirement committee, board meeting or compensation committee meeting needs. Creates and maintains company-wide job descriptions by coordinating with department managers. Updates and maintains variable compensation guidelines for both branch operations and centralized functions. Continually research various HR topics, best practices and service providers/vendors as needs arise. Continuously looks for ways to improve the department or make processes more efficient. Various projects as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in management, Human Resources, or related field. 2-5 years of experience in a Human Resources role, with progressive responsibilities in various HR functions. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. (We spend a lot of time on the phone or using E-mail to communicate with geographically dispersed employees. They are not in our office to speak to face-to-face.) Ability to work independently. Detailed understanding of employment laws. Resourcefulness Professional and customer-service focused demeanor a must.
