<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood services multiple markets including Infrastructure, Process & Energy and Mining & Minerals. Wood performs consulting and EPCM services for many local and worldwide companies and is executing world-class projects on five continents. <br><br>Wood currently has an opportunity for a <b>Project HSSE Advisor</b>. Reporting to the VP HSSE Mining & Minerals, this position is located at our project site near Sparwood, British Columbia. This role has overall responsibility to provide positive leadership on HSSE issues and necessary guidance and support to ensure efficient Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) management on the project in line with the customer HSSE expectations. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you. <br><br><b> Key Responsibilities </b><br><br><ul><li> Maintain the effectiveness and continued development of the HSSE management system and providing direction and support to its application on the project </li><li> Provide assistance and guidance to project and construction management teams regarding planning, and execution strategies for HSSE activities on the project </li><li> Implement an assurance strategy to monitor compliance against the project HSSE Execution Plan and HSSE procedures </li><li> Establish a working relationship with Subcontractors HSSE Representatives, and enlist services and facilities when required, ensuring an adequate interface with relevant stakeholders (such as subcontractors, Client, enforcing authorities, local communities) in matters related to HSSE </li><li> Examine HSSE trends and proposing actions to prevent recurrence of incidents, accidents, and near-misses </li><li> Advise project management on current and future legislation affecting work done under the contract </li><li> Highlight HSSE issues, make recommendations and/or issue instructions (based on reports, audits, and incident analysis) that will be implemented to enhance HSSE performance </li><li> Provide HSSE support, guidance and leadership to contractor management, supervision and craft </li><li> Participate in Root Cause Analysis of incidents </li><li> Minimum 5 years of HSE field level advisory experience on medium to large scale, heavy industrial, EPCM projects, preferably in the Mining industry </li><li> Due to the large percentage of time spent in the field, candidates must be able to perform physical activities such as extended periods of walking in areas of uneven ground conditions in varying environmental conditions, climbing stairs, scaffolds and ladders, entering confined spaces and excavations. Additionally, extended periods of time are spent driving around the construction footprint in a four wheel drive pick-up truck over varying, sometimes very rough terrain with frequent need to access/egress vehicle to check on status of work </li><li> Recognized Safety Certification by accredited association </li><li> Strong understanding of the BC Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations </li><li> Strong skills in MS Word/Excel/Outlook </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Nationally recognized Health and Safety certification and/or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field </li><li> 5 years' experience in a leading HSSE position </li><li> At least 5 years' related experience in mining industry; 10 years of heavy construction projects </li><li> Formal education and training in Occupational Health, Safety, Environment and Risk Management </li><li> Sound knowledge and experience in emergency response, occupational health, incident investigation, risk management, and behavioral based safety </li><li> Extensive experience in the overseeing and monitoring implementation of HSSE Management System and HSSE Plans by contractors and subcontractors on site to ensure effective control of risks </li><li> Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook </li><li> Proven leadership and management skills </li><li> Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with fluency in English </li><li> Working knowledge of MSHA Regulations </li><li> Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
