Senior Paralegal

Summary C2 ALASKA, LLC Washington, DC The Paralegal Senior shall provide legal research and litigation support to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Division of Enforcement Office of Market Intelligence (OMI). Responsibilities Review digital copies of hard copy TCRs and Whistleblower applications. Perform quality assurance on content of TCRs and Whistleblower applications to ensure they are properly labeled. Assess content of TCR to determine whether it is a TCR or is non-relevant information to be referred to another Office or dispositioned. Conduct research across various systems and databases to identify prior related complaints or to determine if the creation of a new TCR is required. Notify triager and/or dispositioner of related TCRs as needed. Perform high-quality data review and entry to create new TCRs and upload relevant documents when needed. Assess completeness of Whistleblower application and coordinate with the SEC’s Office of the Whistleblower as required to obtain missing information from submitters. Utilize a variety of proprietary technology systems to include various compliance, workflow, and database systems. Maintain and improve upon tracking systems/logs (e.g., to match unique task identifiers from the Evidence Tracking System to those in the TCR system). Apply SEC defined processes, allocation principles, and assignment criteria, and assign TCRs for further review following specific guidance. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a related labor category field such as Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Business, Finance, Pre-Law, or Criminal Justice from an accredited college, university, school, or educational institution that has been accredited by accrediting bodies or organizations recognized by the US Department of Education. At least six (6) years of recent Paralegal experience. Paralegal Certificate (Certificate not required if degree is in Paralegal Studies or Legal Studies only.) Ability to provide favorable credit history. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience working with securities, auditors, broker dealers, investment advisors, trading platforms, exchanges (NASDAQ/NYSE), the accounting, finance or investor relations departments of publicly traded companies, other Financial regulatory agencies at the state or federal level, white collar crimes prosecution, law or accounting firms operating in the securities space. Strong comprehensive reading skills. Enjoys repetitive work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Ability to apply judgment based on guiding principles for document types. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to learn new systems and technologies. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. High level of professional ethics and integrity. Strong team player. Must be proficient with Microsoft 2010 or newer programs.
