Charity People are delighted to be working with this much loved animal charity to help find a new Head of Major Donors. As the charity approaches their 200th anniversary, the Major Donor team is growing, and this is a fantastic opportunity for an inspirational philanthropy leader to be part of this new era in fundraising at the charity. With its flexible, family- and dog-friendly culture, this is the perfect opportunity for anyone with excellent relationship fundraising experience to make a significant impact on improving animal welfare.

Job title: Head of Major Donors
Reporting to: Assistant Director, Partnerships and Philanthropy
Location: Hybrid - at home, London office (Southwark), South East office (Southwater, West Sussex)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £55,000-£60,000
Benefits: 25 days annual leave (plus Society day at Christmas), up to 12% employer pension contributions, enhanced maternity, paternity, shared parental, adoption leave and pay, enhanced sick pay, flexible working, and dog friendly offices.

This is the UK's oldest animal welfare charity and the first to introduce a law to protect animals. They work hard to ensure that all animals are free from pain and suffering - and live a good life. Through their campaigns the charity raises standards of care, and awareness of issues affecting animals today.

As Head of Major Donors, you will play a vital role in ensuring the charity continues to protect animals on farms, in labs, in the wild, in paddocks or our homes. Following a period of change, the team is now growing, with the systems and processes in place to ensure future major donor fundraising success.

You will build the profile of Major Donor fundraising across the organisation, securing the trust, commitment and involvement of senior leadership and trustees, including the Chief Executive and Chair. You will also lead and develop the team to achieve ambitious income growth targets and build enduring partnerships with high-net-worth individuals and charitable trusts, in support of the charity's 10-year strategy, Together for Animal Welfare.

If you have strong leadership experience, a proven track record of successful peer-led fundraising and lead generation and you are excited by the prospect of leading a high-performing team to develop new major donor partnerships, then there couldn't be a better role for you.

You'll be an exceptional communicator and an ambitious self-starter who is excited to build something. You'll enjoy new business development and be passionate about the potential impact your work will have. You'll have previously worked with high-level supporters to build a board and recruit a Chair, and ideally you will have led a sizeable capital campaign. You'll have led on developing stewardship and cultivation strategies and have experience of winning 6 and 7-fig grants and donations.

To Apply

If you're as excited about this opportunity as we are, then please get in touch with Philippa or Emma at Charity People with a copy of your CV. If your profile fits what we're looking for, we'll be in touch with lots more details and to arrange a phone or video call.

Please note that we are reviewing applications on a rolling basis, so get in touch straight away if you are interested in exploring this exciting opportunity.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability, and potential. Please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustment so that we can help ensure the application process works for you.

Charity People actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion. We match charity needs with skills and experience of candidates, irrespective of age, disability (including hidden disabilities), gender, gender identity or gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. We do this because we know greater diversity will lead to even greater results for the charities with which we work.
