POSITION TITLE: Baler Operator LOCATION: Wapak Corrugator, 402 Leon Pratt Dr., Wapakoneta, OH 45895 Starting Pay $18.43 plus .40 shift differential. Eligible for pay rate increase at 90 days and 6 months based on attendance and performance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safely operate the baler to produce well-formed, neat bales. Operate the hogger to process all unusable paper and corrugated scrap. Maintain accurate and up-to-date bale production records and reports. Track inventory of baling wire, wax and no-wax tags, and scrap bales. Safely operate a forklift when required. Proactively identify equipment maintenance needs and submit work orders for repairs. Comply with all company policies, including safety procedures and maintaining a clean work environment. Take on additional duties as assigned by management. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required. Preferred: Experience in the corrugated industry. Preferred: Prior forklift operation experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and follow instructions, including factory masters and safety guidelines. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to read a tape measure accurately and efficiently. Proficient in basic math, including calculations for percentages, measurements, volume, and rates. REASONING ABILITY Ability to understand and execute instructions (written, oral, or graphic). Capable of addressing problems involving concrete variables and standardized situations. TECHNICAL SKILLS Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities for optimal operation. Familiarity with production layouts, specifications, and quality standards. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Required: Lift Truck Operator License (or ability to obtain one). PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Frequently required to use hands for handling, reaching, or feeling. Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level is usually loud, requiring hearing protection.
