Description
Strength Through Diversity Ground breaking science. Advancing medicine. Healing made personal. Roles & Responsibilities: The Scientific Computing and Data group at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai partners with scientists to accelerate scientific discovery with the overarching goal of accelerating translational research and improving clinical care. To achieve these aims, we support a cutting-edge high-performance computing and data ecosystem along with MD/PhD-level support for researchers. The group is composed of a high-performance computing team, the research clinical data warehouse team and a research data services team. The group works with leading-edge researchers and clinician in genetics and genomic sciences, epidemiology, laboratory science and many other biomedical domains. One example project is the harmonized/semantic data repository and web portal for the Human Health Exposure Analysis Resource Data Center. The Research Data Services Web Developer will join a team of software developers and biomedical informatics specialists to design, build, and support user-facing and backend applications. This software enables Mount Sinai research scientists to create, manage, and analyze biomedical data, including electronic health record data. The team has deep and complementary expertise in several domains including NLP, electronic data capture systems and in applying semantics and knowledge representation to the biomedical domain. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience building user interfaces using JavaScript frameworks, such as React.js, building connectors to data sources, and working with end users to ensure the user requirements are captured and implemented. The variety of data and research interests we encounter is substantial, and the data we work with is frequently protected health information, so experience working with sensitive data and applying appropriate security controls is crucial. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of state-of-the-art computer science technologies and biomedical science. Specific responsibilities are listed below. Work with research stakeholders to understand their requirements for user interface and backend software that will deliver value to their research projects. Develop scalable and reliable software following industry standard methodologies for software development, documentation, dev ops, and continuous testing, integration, and deployment practices. Support existing software systems for electronic health record capture and work within a team to evolve existing software into more sustainable architectures. Assist management in determining computer systems requirements. Propose system and software designs to meet user requirements. Create monitors, system dashboards, runbooks and other tools and documentation to provide operations teams with the ability to take over daily support of the software applications. Requirements: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience or equivalent experience in an academic medical center Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model. Experience developing and implementing highly-responsive user interface components using React concepts. Experience designing and implementing front-end architecture to support user interfaces. Experience with SQL Server troubleshooting, queries, stored procedures, DB normalization. Experience with .Net web development (ASP,ASP.NET, MVC). Two+ years of customer-facing experience in a research environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability in dealing with escalated customer issues. Creative problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally. Experience working on Agile development teams and continuous integration, development, and testing practices and technologies, such as Docker, Jenkins, and Artifactory is a plus. Experience within the Healthcare data domain is a plus. Strength Through Diversity The Mount Sinai Health System believes that diversity, equity and inclusion are drivers for excellence.
