Tower Technology is part of Vestas R&D function which is responsible for developing and maintaining the complete Vestas tower program. We are a great team of skilled engineers located in Aarhus, Denmark and Chennai, India. We usually collaborate on our projects, and we support and look after each other along the way.
Responsibilities Tower Technology develops Vestas new design methodologies, future tower concepts and technological solutions for next generation of wind turbines. Our projects span a wide range of technical areas, from the design of complex dynamically loaded concrete and steel structures such as towers for wind turbines, to bolted and welded connections and to fatigue calculations buckling analysis and structural assessment
You will be supporting the project's technical manager in developing new solutions from early conceptualization to final detailed design. This includes, among other things preparing requirement specifications, structural calculations and FE analyses in ANSYS
You will typically work in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders from the entire tower value chain. Therefore, over time you will build a large internal network at Vestas and expand your horizons from the technical development to also cover production, construction and service
Qualifications If you have a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering and are eager to learn more about wind turbine tower design, we promise you some of the most exciting and challenging projects within modern engineering.
Coming into this job, you will be thoroughly trained and introduced to colleagues, tasks and stakeholders at an appropriate pace. You will also continuously spar with more experienced colleagues and naturally receive regular feedback in one-to-one meetings with your manager
There can be many ways into this job, but in short we expect you to have a
- Bachelors or Masters degree in mechanical, structural, or civil engineering
- Few years of working experience as a structural engineer or similar
- Knowledge of or interest in fatigue calculations, FE-analysis and structural assessment
- Interest to learn more about wind turbine tower design
