PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for the new products introduction via set ups, for electromechanical and electronics product lines, analyze new product requirements vs actual products specifications, if new set ups has new or revised product specifications, develop a validation plan (DVP&R) to guarantee product integrity, validate all new customer, marketing and sales new product changes ideas. Responsible to lead the weekly meetings for the engineering changes orders (ECO) process. Subject matter expert for the changes managements control system. Ensures new business opportunities (NBOs) are successfully engineered and documented such that they move quickly to the manufacturing floor via set ups. Strong focus on “Cost Out” efforts, and on product compliance to Hazardous Material reduction initiatives (i.e., RoHS, WEEE, etc). Follows the production cycle and works with marketing, development, tooling and manufacturing to ensure that the product meets the needs of customer and meets the product specifications. Provide support on technical inquiries coming from production line and external/internal suppliers in order to help achieve production plan and OTD targets. As well as perform root cause analysis of product line repetitive issues and field claims. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide product line support related to new set ups introduction. Lead “Cost Out” activities from an engineering and material perspective Evaluate product material to ensure compliance with Hazardous Material reduction initiatives Conduct new set ups product integrity testing. Work with internal and external customers to design and develop solutions to meet customer’s needs Develop comprehensive tests to validate new product designs Ensure NBOs are designed, engineered and entered into the database drawing system Research the use of new materials that provide boost in technology and/or a significant cost improvement Conduct DFMEA on all new development projects to gage the potential impact of the changes Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with key customers and vendors Conduct testing of all new products in accordance with VC standards and customer requirements Investigate and analyze new materials and their appropriate use within our product line Provide support to outside suppliers (part substitutions, test strategies, create and maintain documentation for manufacturing) Component selection and validation Participation as the specialist for electronics and associated components in core R&D team. RFE support to NPI department. Back-up support on production line and field issues investigation and root cause analysis. Back-up support on technical inquiries found during production line processes and requested by suppliers/customers. Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering 5 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment Experience using SAP, ENOVIA Ability to design using AutoCAD Working knowledge of a wide variety of electronics-based devices and the processes required to test and validate their functionality Knowledge in the product life cycle flow through the manufacturing facility Experience in manufacturing environment, with electrical and electromechanical systems. Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques a plus C and assembly programming a plus Familiarity of commercial vehicle markets and the environmental requirements a plus.
