Overview The individual who fills this role will join a team of skilled professionals that are tasked with managing the Nuclear Training Program at PNNL. This includes managing programmatic documentation, designing and developing training materials, facilitating and leading learning activities, and supporting learners and line managers to ensure workforce qualifications are established and maintained. In this role, you will support learners from across the lab including members of the craft workforce and more broadly members of the Operational Systems directorate as well as members of our research organizations. Responsibilities Promotes a systematic approach to the leadership, direction, and control of PNNL and RPL-nuclear training requirements. Works independently with various positions from senior management staff to bargaining unit to facilitate the analysis and design of training, support the development of training materials, coordinate or conduct the implementation of training, and periodically evaluate the efficacy of training outputs during the design, development, implementation, and in-field observations of performance or course examination to evaluate the effectiveness of the training. Specifically supports the qualification or certification of staff in accordance with the DOE Order 426.2 and PNNL policies and procedures and may process training waivers, extensions, and exceptions as required. Prepares and deploys self-assessment activities and supports internal/external audits in assigned programmatic areas. Those entering this career series may be tasked with more elementary functions such as tracking, notification, scheduling, and analysis of all required training for staff and non-staff within assigned area of responsibility. Assists in the development of standardized training plans for exempt and non-exempt staff. Provides guidance to staff and non-staff regarding applicable training requirements. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA and 7 years of relevant experience -OR- MS/MA or higher and 5 years of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications: Background and education with a systematic approach to training process. Experience providing instruction in a nuclear setting for topics such as operator fundamentals, conduct of operations/maintenance, nuclear or criticality safety, etc. Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment The individual filling this role will, on occasion, be required to don PPE (hard hat, feet protection, gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection), be exposed to the elements, and may have to access radiologically posted areas.
