Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust
Non-Executive Director (General) and Non-Executive Director (Chair of the Audit)
Salary £13,000 for four days a month (Audit Chair receives an additional allowance)
Willerby, East Riding of Yorkshire
An organisation of 2,800 staff, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is one of the leading mental health trusts in the country. We are a multi-specialty health and social care provider of integrated health care services across Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire, Whitby, Scarborough, and Ryedale, serving a population of 765,000 people of all ages. We provide community and therapy services, primary care, community and inpatient mental health services, learning disability services, healthy lifestyle support and addictions services. We also provide specialist services for children including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and support for children and their families who are experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties. The Trust also includes Whitby Hospital, a community hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and community services to Whitby and the surrounding area, and nine GP practices - two in Hull and six in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
This is an exciting time to consider joining our Trust. We have retained our ‘Good’ rating with the Care Quality Commission and in 2019 we were awarded the Mental Health Provider of the Year at the Health Service Journal Awards. Our core values are ‘caring, learning and growing’, and our vision is to be a leading provider of integrated health services, recognised for the care, compassion and commitment of our staff and known as a great employer and a valued partner.
We are now looking to appoint two Non-Executive Directors to our Board to provide support, oversight, governance and leadership in the pursuit of our strategy. As a new Non-Executive Director, you will be joining a strong and high-performing Board comprised of individuals with a wide range of professional backgrounds and lived experience. Utilising your experience from your chosen profession, whether private, public or voluntary sector, you will bring support, challenge and independent judgement to a complex, fast-paced, regulated environment.
The successful candidate will have proven senior leadership skills and a strong commitment to the values of the NHS. Previous Non-Executive Director experience would be advantageous but is not essential - rather, the ability to challenge constructively through solid knowledge and understanding is a critical component of the role. For the General NED role, leadership experience of a large, dispersed workforce will be critical. For the Audit Chair role, you will be a Board level Chartered Accountant. The ability to hold others to account and delivering strategy will be important requirements for both roles.
You must be resident in Yorkshire and Humber to apply for these roles.
If you are interested in the role, please contact Michelle Sander on 0207 426 3377, or Mark Bate or Robin Staveley on 0113 205 6288.
