In this pivotal role in the Methodist Church’s governance office, you will ensure the Methodist Connexional Team is legally compliant across a range of activities, notably data protection and data privacy. You will advise on general commercial contracts and other legal matters as they arise, working closely with the Officer for Legal and Constitutional Practice in the development of policies and guidance to promote good governance within the Methodist Church.

We are looking to appoint someone with experience in a legal role for a charity or regulated body. You will have extensive knowledge of data protection law and process and a sound understanding of charity governance. You will need to be able to operate independently and effectively within a complex governance environment and to influence decision-making as appropriate. You will have, or be able to speedily acquire, a comprehensive knowledge of the governance structures and working of the Methodist Church.

Our ideal candidate will be familiar with committee and trustee reporting requirements and a confident presenter and communicator. You will be able to deliver legal services efficiently to key stakeholders and demonstrate proven experience of advising effectively and proportionately on complex matters without supervision.
