Title
LEAD, GEOSCIENCE & RESERVOIR SOLUTIONS

Primary Purpose of Job

Lead the team and oversees IT solutions and services related to the Geoscience & Reservoir domains and upstream data management and ensuring continuity of services in accordance with corporate business needs and expectations in close relationship with the Subsurface Development and Exploration entities. Lead, manage, and deliver multiple high value IT projects related to digitalization and enhancing the technology in the subsurface domain.

Education

• Bachelor& 39;s degree in information Technology / Computer Science / Engineering / Petroleum / Geoscience or equivalent.

• Minimum 10 years of progressive and directly related experience including minimum 5 years of supervisory management responsibilities.

• Demonstrated knowledge of subsurface technologies and trends.

• Experience in managing and executing multiple high value subsurface and Technical IT projects and services for energy organizations; knowledge and practice of tools and methodologies like PMI or PRINCE2.

• Experience in establishing and managing partnerships, contracts and agreements.

• Familiar with international Oil and Gas and ICT industry standards, architecture, integration, methods and solutions.

• Strong persuasion, negotiation, analytical, problem solving, people management, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and communicate with a multi-cultural and multi-national workforce, excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate concepts as appropriate to management, customers, contractors, and staff.

Experience & Skills

Principal Accountabilities;

1. Establish and reinforce positive influence with key stakeholders through defined communication channels to ensure alignment between delivered solutions / services and business demands.

2. Lead and monitor high value IT projects in the upstream domain in alignment with QatarEnergy and ICT strategy to deliver state-of-the-art technology that fulfils business need within the project baseline while contributing to business changes management.

3. Manage the team, optimize operational efficiency, and ensure smooth operations and support services.

4. Develop and manage capacity planning including infrastructure resources and application licensing as per the business need.

5. Develop and manage capital and operating budgets in line with corporate financial policies and procedures through forecasting long-term and short-term demands while ensuring optimization to deliver information technology services in the most cost-effective manner.

6. Ensure proper monitoring and analyses of the solutions& 39; performance, and liaison with ICT sections and vendors for system performance tuning.

7. Ensure compliance to QatarEnergy policies, procedures and standards including Cyber Security and Infrastructure requirements to ensure secure environment free from software vulnerabilities and threats.

8. Oversee purchase requisitions and manage contracts and agreements of the solutions while ensuring that contractual commitments to vendors are met.

9. Keep abreast of current technology trends through research and on-going interaction with local, regional and international software providers and other Energy Companies, in order to ensure that the application software used remain current and in line with international trends.

10. Develop and manage domain specialized resources to enhance the team& 39;s capabilities, performance, workloads, and support the Departmental Qatarization plan.

Decision Making Authority

• Advise management on performance and merit assessment of subordinate staff and suggest training requirements accordingly.

• Prepare and assess business cases of the Section& 39;s projects to ensure appropriate return on investment to QatarEnergy whilst avoiding duplication

• Endorse Drilling & Production Solutions operating procedures and standards.

Context / Special Features / Challenges

• Recognized source of expertise in the management of Geoscience and Reservoir applications/solutions from applications and systems perspective

• Demonstrate understanding of oil and gas industry, specifically the upstream sector, to effectively support the business.

• Proficient in researching and studying software trends, tools, methodologies and standards.

• Advise, lead, facilitate and participate in the establishment and management of Subsurface Solutions panels / committees / management teams related to governance and operations of Drilling and Production Solutions, business integration, program management office, information security, quality management, business continuity, risk management and compliance.

• Provides professional and technical supervision to the team.

• Business data supported through the software and/or related infrastructure are critical and sensitive in nature, it ranges from domestic to international assets.

• Majority of the applications supported are requiring high system resources such as high-performance computing infrastructure for complex computations and huge storage capacity for the massive data volumes to be stored and processed.

• Contract portfolio includes contracts/agreements of very high value for the purchase and subsequent maintenance and support of software licenses .
