Heavy Duty Mechanic - Site Support
Location: McClean Lake, Northern Saskatchewan
Rotation: FIFO - 14 days in / 14 days out
Contract Duration: 1 year
Position Overview:

• The Client is seeking experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics to provide site-based maintenance support at the McClean Lake operation. This role supports the Site Services Group and works alongside existing Heavy Duty Mechanics in a shop-based environment.
• The position is offered on a 1-year contract with a rotating schedule and requires strong diagnostic capabilities, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to safety.

Work Schedule:

• 14 days in / 14 days out rotation
• 11-hour workday (07:00-19:00), including 1-hour unpaid lunch
• Cross-shift coverage (one mechanic onsite at a time)
• Some work outside normal hours may be required

Start Dates:

• First position: May 13, 2026
• Second position: May 20, 2026

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy mobile equipment, including:
  • Haul trucks
  • Loaders
  • Crawler tractors
  • Graders
  • Excavators

• Conduct periodic maintenance on medium-duty equipment, including:
  • Semi tractors and trailers
  • Man-lifts
  • Skid steers
  • Buses
• Maintain selected stationary equipment, such as:
  • Generators
  • Fire pumps
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Use computerized diagnostic software and tools, including (but not limited to):
  • Caterpillar ET / SIS
  • Cummins INSITE
  • Wabco Toolbox
• Complete detailed work orders including diagnostics, corrective actions, and system updates
• Work independently or with minimal supervision in a shop and site environment
• Perform all duties in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and site security requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal) certification
• Minimum 10 years' experience maintaining a broad range of heavy-duty mobile equipment
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems
• Strong computer skills: SAP experience is an asset
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities while working alone
• High attention to detail and strong documentation skills
• Must supply a complete set of quality personal hand tools
• Physically capable of performing moderately demanding work

Health, Safety and Compliance:

• Commitment to working safely and following all site health, safety, and environmental standards
• Completion of all required site training, including:
  • General Mine Safety Awareness
  • Site orientation and fit testing (as required)
  • WHMIS and First Aid
• Must successfully complete pre-access and periodic drug and alcohol testing
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
