The Westin Perth provides a refreshing location for mindful meetings or inspiring events. The hotel is made up of 368 guest rooms – including 10 Club Suites, 8 Westin Suites, 5 Executive Suites and 1 Presidential Suite as well as 2,300 square meters of versatile event space; they are all equipped with cutting-edge technology, allowing guests to host grand functions. Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and passionate Conference and Events Manager to join and lead our Events Planning team. You will be responsible for the planning of client events within the hotel including corporate, social and weddings. This role reports to the Director of Food & Beverage. An event manager is, above all, a project manager who understands the logistics between front of house, kitchen and rooms to ensure residential groups are well looked after. We want to see an enthusiastic candidate with fresh ideas and the organizational skills required to not leave anything about an event to chance. You will be required to work in a range of environments and with a number of key stakeholders, meaning the ability to quickly adapt and communicate clearly will play a key part of your role. Your Responsibilities: To handle the event management process for assigned events including corporate, social and weddings once they have been handed over by the Sales Team. Manage and motivate a team to provide consistent, high-quality service. Communicates performance expectations and ensures staff are well trained. Monitors and controls financial and administrative responsibilities including asset protection. Work closely with Sales, Event Operations, Culinary, and additional departments as needed to execute successful events. As the client’s main point of contact, you will liaise with them to confirm the details for their event, conduct site visits and client meetings where required and generate banquet evet orders, invoices, and other required documents. Following the event, you will seek client feedback and distribute to relevant departments. Timely distribution of all events related information and updates to relevant departments within the hotel. Host weekly event order meetings to discuss each event in detail. Develop and maintain strong and profitable relations with new and returning clients. Post-event reporting and analysis Identifies customer needs and all sales opportunities which ensure successful catering events. You will have: Proven experience in Conference & Event Management Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple clients Proficient in MS Office & Outlook Previous experience with Opera PMS and Event Planning Software (CITY) The ability to lead and motivate a team Proven budget management skills Project management experience Ability to cope under pressure and adapt to changes quickly.
