Train border force officers and help to keep the UK safe
About us
Border Force secures the UK’s borders 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We implement immigration and customs regulations at the UK’s 140 seaports, airports, 200+ general aviation ports, postal depots and the international rail network. We also work with the wider Home Office to thwart terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking.
The role
Joining the Home Office Leadership, Learning, Capability and Training (LLCT) team you will work directly with Border Force, delivering core operational learning to frontline staff across the UK. From legislation procedures, to the deployment of powers, you’ll ensure Border Force Officers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to protect the UK Border.
Working as part of team with a strong shared ethos, you’ll use a range of methodologies, to train new recruits, established staff and contingency personnel of all grades. Expect to be involved in the whole learning process, including pastoral care, performance monitoring and evaluation, and coaching and mentoring. Although some training will be carried out online, in-person delivery for three weeks of a five-week foundation course is a requirement. Some national travel and midweek stays away from home may also be necessary.
About you
A trained trainer in adult learning, your experience is likely to have been gained in an operational environment such as the Police, Prison Service or Ambulance services. You’ll have a good understanding of the operational environment, the ability to adhere to guidance and procedures, and a willingness to act as a role model for organisational values. Effective communication and facilitation skills are essential.
You’ll also need strong organisational abilities, including the capacity to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities. A recognised qualification in Learning and Development to a minimum of level 3 Adult Education and Training or equivalent would be an advantage.
