Overview The Campus Development Division delivers the PNNL campus strategy to provide laboratory facilities and infrastructure aligned with our cutting-edge science and technology research mission. The division provides the planning, architecture, engineering, and design services critical to delivering unique and modern research facilities. We also centrally manage laboratory and office space and relocations to optimize usage across our campuses. Campus Development is leading a 10-year recapitalization of PNNL’s campus exceeding $1.2 billion. We rely on the partnerships between research and operations to identify, fund and design the most impactful campus projects and work closely with our project management team to deliver. Our team delivers facility solutions that maximize safety, functionality, reliability, and sustainability. Responsibilities Programs, plans and designs facility projects applying knowledge of architectural design, construction detailing, construction procedures, sustainability, building codes, standards and building material systems. Produces conceptual plans, renderings, specifications, and supporting scope definition. Working with the project manager and engineering disciplines, leads development of architectural construction documents and checks activities of others engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents for the conceptual design phase, schematic design phase, and/or the detailed design phase of a project. Responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing a variety of projects: new construction, major renovation and minor renovations, alterations of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures and other laboratory facilities. Other duties will include project management, estimating, preparation of contract documents including drawings and specifications, and field inspections for all PNNL facilities. Your Role: Assist senior staff in the production and running of medium and large projects. Lead multidisciplinary project teams on small projects. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA and 5+ years of relevant work experience -OR- MS/MA and 3+ years of relevant work experience Preferred Qualifications: Architectural licensure or in progress. A strong foundation in building architecture with 6 years’ experience in an architecture and engineering (A&E) firm. Excellent Revit and AutoCAD knowledge, MS Office Software skills. Experience with institutional research laboratory layout and design. Experience assisting technically complex projects. A strong foundation in architectural design and processes learnt in private sector with an architectural firm or A&E firm. A desire to grow your skills supporting a plethora of unique projects. Work in commercial, institutional, educational or healthcare related fields. Experience with relevant Codes (NFPA, IBC). Understanding of engineering specifications. Knowledge of architectural drawings and details. LEED or equivalent DOE Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
