NJVC is currently helping support the National Consolidated Library (NCL) software baseline during the transition and retirement period as the Agency moves from data-center-based content management to cloud-based data services. The SONIC Strike contract aims to maintain full operational capability while collaborating to integrate services into the Open Data Store (ODS). ODS is the construct for NGA Content Management Services in the cloud. The Application Support Engineer will be part of an integrated Operations and Sustainment team providing critical 24x7 mission support to our customer and will interface with engineering resources located at other facilities. The Application Support Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the customer application and monitoring/investigation of segment interfaces. Responsibilities Work you’ll do   As a Application Support Engineerwithin our NCL team, you will:  Work with on-site database and system administration support personnel to convey and investigate system anomalies. Investigate operational issues and perform problem escalation with the vendor, factory, and on-site Subject Matter Experts (SME) as required. Ensure system issues are identified and resolved, minimizing operational impacts. Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED required 2+ years relevant work experience to include: Experience with UNIX/LINUX-based operating systems. Experience with Oracle or other relational databases. Experience in scripting. Experience with Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Security+ required TS/SCI clearance required. The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to provide rotating site support (24x7) to ensure system issues are identified and resolved, minimizing operational impacts - shift work is required in a high-paced environment. Panama Night Shift 7 pm to 7 am (2 on / 2 off / 3 on / 3 off) Working knowledge of UNIX/LINUX-based operating systems. Understand principles of SQL query language and operating systems. Basic knowledge of computer networks, including file transfer protocols. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Works well in a team environment and is self-motivating. Ability to travel as required. Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others. Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues. Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor. Previous customer service experience strongly desired. Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
